Difference between Synecdoche and Metonymy:
| Figure of Speech | Definition | Example |

| Synecdoche | Used when substituting a part-to-whole or vice-versa relationship.
| The strings played beautifully = Referring to the strings of a musical instrument, such as a guitar. |
