No, the University of South Florida (USF) and the University of Tampa are not the same university. The University of South Florida is a public research university with its main campus located in Tampa. Whereas, the University of Tampa is a private university with campus in Tampa. People confuse between them because both of them have their main campus in the same city i.e., Tampa.

As per a former student's opinion, the University of Tampa is a very interesting place to hang out in. Thereare various places to search for such as, Seminole Heights area has some pretty cool bars, local restaurants, and coffee shops. There are several great vegetarian/vegan eateries in that neighborhood too, and its close to UT —easy biking distance. You can also check out Meetup.com— Tampa has lots of great meetups, and more variety of meetups than even many bigger cities, like Seattle and D.C. The University of Tampa is a medium-sized private university. Formerly the University of Tampa was known as Tampa Junior College. It was established almost 92 years ago in 1931. It was established to serve as one of the first institutions of higher education in the Tampa Bay area. Earlier college offered a limited number of degree programs, however, now the University of Tampa offers more than 200+ programs at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
