"It is a great sized city, enough going on so you won’t get bored, but not too much so you won’t do any work! Very easy to walk around. Various pubs (‘The Bell’ in Walcot street is recommended, ) and clubs for live music. Bristol is only about 10 miles away if you want alternative venues. The countryside is very scenic with the river Avon, Kennet & Avon Canal and lots of rolling hills. Buses to the University are plentiful and some start off in Oldfield Park which is an area where a lot of students live, and run late at night too. There are four main Supermarkets, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Lidl & Morrisons. On Saturday mornings there is a Farmers’ Market at Green Park Station which is great for fresh produce and good if you want too talk to the people who actually supply it… If parents are visiting and want to take you out for a meal - there’s no shortage of restaurants. At the top end up to the Michelin star level!

If you have sporting interests, Bath University has some of the best facilities around and is very highly regarded in this area and has produced several Olympians. Bath is better known for its rugby team (who play at ‘The Rec’) than its football team (who play at Twerton Park) . The latter have a notable patron in the way of the Film Director Ken Loach. There is the potential for an open air swimming pool (Cleveland Baths). In a hot summer people are known to go river swimming at Warleigh Weir."
