For admission to the University of Pittsburgh, students applying to undergraduate programs must fulfill the minimum requirement criteria, which includes:

For Pittsburgh Campus:

• IELTS: Overall 7 bands or higher with sub-scores of 6.0 or higher

• TOEFL: Overall 100 or higher (composite) with sub-scores of 21 is competitive. However, candidate applications, when viewed holistically, a TOEFL score of 95-99 with a solid academic record will be sufficient to get through.

• SAT: English Test (DET): Overall 120 or higher

For Bradford, Greensburg and Johnstown Campuses:

• TOEFL: Overall 80-94 or higher

• IELTS: Overall 6.5 bands or higher

• SAT: Evidence-based Reading and Writing score of 560 or higher

• ACT: 21 ACT English sub-score

For Graduate Programs:

In order to apply for the graduate programs, international students will need to apply to specific schools, each having its own requirements. The university accepts GMAT scores based on the programme that you wish to apply to.

The Katz Master of Science in Finance is a 30-credit master's degree programme that can be completed in less than nine months, or two full-time terms, beginning in the autumn (August) term. You can also complete the degree in two years if you start in the autumn, spring (January) or summer (May).

Katz, a CFA Institute University Affiliate, provides a finance curriculum that covers 70% of the topics on the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam and prepares you for related certifications such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). The university does not offer any financial aid for international students. However, scholarships are available for students on a merit basis. Pittsburgh offers international student scholarships for first-year students. International transfer students are not eligible to be considered for the scholarship process.

There are no separate scholarship forms that a student needs to fill to be considered for it. To be considered for the scholarship evaluation, international students need to submit their applications and supporting documents on time.

International students who apply early are automatically considered for scholarships. The scholarship committee makes decisions about award winners on a weekly basis.

The University of Pittsburgh has a ranking in the top 50 universities in the world by US News in its Global Universities list since 2019. This year, it has placed Pittsburgh #50 rank. However, QS (Top Universities) has ranked it beyond top 100 universities in the world in its World University Ranking. QS has continuously dropped Pittsburgh's rank from #136 in 2019 to #181 in 2023. Here, we noticed that Pittsburgh has performed well by maintaining its global and regional research reputation. On the other hand, it has not performed well in maintaining its academic reputation which is the prime factor in deciding its rank by QS.

Apart from this, Pittsburgh has improved its graduation and first-year retention rates as well and has been ranked among the best 100 universities in the USA by US News & World Report.
