Its former name was Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU).  PDEU is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The School of Technology at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) accepts JEE Main scores for admission to its BTech program.
