The selection process for the UPSC CAPF involves three stages- written exam, PET/ PST and Interview/ Personality Test round. Candidates who clear all the three stages are shortlisted for appointment in the CAPFs. The final selection and allocation of forces in the UPSC CAPF exam will be done based on the merit of candidates in the written exam and preferences of forces submitted in the CAPF application form. The PET/ PST and Interview rounds are qualifying in nature.

The Union Public Service Commission releases the official notification in April. The preliminary exam is conducted in August and its result is announced in the same month. After the written exam result, the Commission conduct the physical efficiency teat (PET). The result of PET is released in March next year and after it the interviews are conducted.

The final result is released in June/July next year. So it will be take more than a year to complete the exam process.

There is no limit to the number of attempts to the candidates in the UPSC CAPF exam, provided they should confirm to the age limit criteria prescribed in the official notification. However, candidates who have been posted in the forces through the CAPF AC exam cannot appear for the exam again. The candidates should note that the candidates must refer to the official UPSC CAPF notification to know all the details about the educational and other criteria.
