The Union Public Service Commission mention the age limit in the official notification. The upper age limit for the General Categoary candidates is 32 years. The Commission provides age relaxation to certain reserved categories.

The Union Public Service Commission is not expected to reduce the age limit to apply for the UPSC IAS exam 2026. The Commission requires the approval of the Ministry of Personnel in changing the eligibility for the exam.

The candidates should note that the Union Public Service Commission conduct the Civil Service Exam every year. The Commission releases the official notification every year which mention all the eligibility criteria for all the categories separately. The number of attempts is also one such criteria which is defined based on the category of the candidate.
The Commission mention the pemissible number of attempts in the following manner:
