The students who wants admission into MCA course at Uttaranchal University must complete their UG in either BCA or BSc course. The admissions are given on the basis of merit. If the student has not done mathematics in past, they have to select Computer Science as a bridge elective.

Uttaranchal University offers BA English under UG level for the duration of 3 years. Students need to pass class 12 or equivalent examination in any stream from any recognised board. Minimum 50% marks in aggregate for general category and 45% marks in aggregate in case of SC/ST category. The admission is based on merit, computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible students.

Uttaranchal University selection criteria is both merit & entrance-based. The university accepts both national-level entrance exams in addition to conducting its own exam. Further, for certain courses, such as BTech, MSc, students are also required to appear for the PI rounds conducted by the university.
