VITREE exam pattern for PhD applicants can be checked below

  • VITREE is conducted online for two hours

  • Question paper consists of 100 MCQs

  • For each correct answer, 1 mark will be rewarded. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. 

  • The VITREE question paper consists of technical - 70 questions, English communication skills - 15 marks, and statistics and probability - 15 marks

  • Must have completed master's with minimum qualifying mark
  • Students have valid ID proof, such as VISA
  • Interested foreign nationals must have good English communication skills

Yes, GATE-qualified candidates can apply for the VITREE exam. For that, candidates must have a good academic record in their bachelor's degree. The minimum qualifying percentage is 75% or an aggregate CGPA of 8.0 on a 10-point scale. Candidates must go through the VITREE criteria before applying.

Candidates who want to pursue PhD through VITREE must be aware of the eligibility. For architecture and planning, candidates must have a bachelor's degree, followed by a master's degree in relevant discipline or equiavalent. In addition, the minimum qualifying mark is 60% or CGPA - 6.5 on 10-point scale. Only full-time courses are applicable for PhD admission.

Candidates applying for VITREE 2026 (PhD in engineering) must meet the following qualification criteria -

  • Master's degree in engineering/technology in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA on a 10-point scale

  • M.Sc computer science, M.Sc (IT), and MCA degree holders are eligible to apply for PhD programme in computer Science engineering/information technology. 

For Direct PhD admissions, graduates must have an outstanding academic record in their bachelor's degree with a minimum of 75% marks or a CGPA of 7.5 on a 10-pointscale.

The VITREE syllabus of Electronics and Communication Engineering is as follows -

  • Engineering Mathematics

  • Network Theory 

  • Electronic Devices and Circuits 

  • Control Systems

  • Communication Systems 

  • Electromagnetics 

The questions will be asked in MCQ format. Each correct answer carries one mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

 The VITREE 2025 exam will be conducted on December 7, 2024 (afternoon) from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates appearing for the exam must carry their admit card to appear for the exam. The VITREE exam will be conducted online for two hours.
