Yes, there is negative marking in the WBCS preliminary and main exams. 

In the WBCS prelims exam, the quantum of negative marking is one by third. The negative marking makes the exam difficult. For each incorrect answer, the Commission will deduct 1/3 of the marks assigned for correct answer.

In the main exam, the quantum of the negative marking is 10% of the marks assigned to the question.

Yes, the WBCS main exam has some papers which are objective paper and other papers are subjective. The out of six compulsory papers, four are objective type multiple choice questions based paper. The other two papers and optional subjects are descriptive type conventional papers. The four objective type MCQs are  

  • Paper III: General Studies - I
  • Paper IV: General Studies - II
  • Paper V: The Constitution of India and Indian Economy including role and functions of the Reserve Bank of India.
  • Paper VI: Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning.

The West Bengal Public Service Commission conducted the WBCS 2023 prelims exam on December 16, 2023 across the state. The Commission is yet to release the WBCS prelims result 2023. The WBCS cutoff for prelims exam will be released with the result pdf. The Commission releases the category-wise cutoff with the result pdf. The candidates can see here the expected cutoff for WBCS 2023 Prelims exam.

The West Bengal Public Service Commission released the WBCS 2024 result for the 2023 session on July  12, 2024. The Commission selected 4,960 candidates for the main exam. The WBCS main exam 2024 will be conducted from Augsut 16 to 20 except on 19. 

The Commission also releasd the category-wise cutoff with the result.

Yes, the WBCS 2023 Answer Key has been released. The West Bengal Public Service Commission released the answer key for all the sets in answer key pdf. The WBCS 2023 prelims exam was conducted on December 16, 2023. The candidates can send objections against the incorrect answers till January 5, 2023. 

The Commission will analyse the eligible objections and prepare the final answer key based on which the WBCS 2023 result will be declared.

The WBCS answer key will be available within a week from the prelims exam. Candidates will be to download the WBCS prelims answer keys 2024 online only. The answer keys will be available for all sets - A, B, C and D. The candidates can check here the steps to download the WBCS 2024 answer key:  

  • Go to the official site of WBPSC-wbpsc.gov.in
  • Click on the Examination tab given in the top navigation
  • Click on the answer key link
  • WBCS answer key PDF will appear on the screen for sets A, B, C and D
  • Check the answers
  • Download the WBCS answer key 2024 PDF for the future reference

The West Bengal Public Service Commission is expected to provide the WBCS 2024 application correction facility to the candidates. The application correction facility is provided after the last date of application and the candidates are allowed to change the WBCS application details once or twice. The Commission is expected to release the exam calendar soon and the candidates will be required to check the dates for the exam.

The candidates can clear the WBCS exam in first attempt if they prepare for the exam in a planned way.  The candidates should prepare all the topics notified in the syllabus to ensure their selection in the exam. The WBPSC WBCS prelims exam will be conducted offline at the exam centres. The candidates should start the preparation for the prelims and main exam combined and give their best shot.

Yes, the West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) admit card 2023 for the prelims exam was released online on December 1. The Commission released the WBCS 2023 admit card online only and the candidates are required to download their admit card from the official website. The Commission will conduct the WBCS 2023 exam on December 16.

The Commission released the WBCS 2023 notification in February 2023 and did not mentioned the number of vacancies for the WBCS 2023 exam.
