Tight norms for organisations sponsoring US aspirants

The US has reviewed its visa policy for Indian students. While no changes have been introduced in the way applicants are interviewed and screened, the US authorities will now make sure that organisations sponsoring students are doing so with the intention to educate them and not put them to work. The UK has also adopted a more stringent stance in issuing a post work visa to non-European students. It has abolished the two-year post study work visa from April 6. Now, students who want to get work exposure after graduating in the UK will have to apply for a job with a licensed Tire 2 sponsor in their field of study before their student visa expires. The banishment of post-study work visa had discouraged several aspiring study abroad students who want to opt for the UK as their education destination. However, the US has not changed the criteria of visa issuance for Indian students. It will just make sure that the sponsoring organisations are acting in good faith. Last month, the United States had decided to waive off ‘personal interviews' for Indian tourists, business travelers, crew members, and students who renew their visas within 48 months or four years.
