The eligibility criteria for admission to any one of the programs in Engineering is a minimum aggregate of 60% or secures 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in class XII. The admission shall be made on the All-India Rank (AIR) of JEE Main-2024. The cutoff rank for different branches may vary depending on the availability of seats and the number of applicants. If you have scored 70% in JEE Main, your expected percentile score would be between 90 and 923. This means your expected rank would be between 90,000 and 1,10,000. Based on the previous year’s data, this rank may not be sufficient to secure a seat in Chitkara College of Applied Engineering, Chandigarh, as the cutoff rank for most of the branches was below 50,000. However, you can still try to apply for the counselling process and see if you can get a seat in your preferred branch.

The college offers various specialisations in B Tech, such as Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. However, there is no definitive answer to which specialisation is the best, as different specialisations may suit different learners depending on their background, interests, goals, and preferences. Some of the factors that may influence the ranking of the specialisations are:The demand and scope of the specialisation: Some specialisations may have more demand and scope in the current and future market, such as Computer Science and Engineering, which covers topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, etc. These specialisations may offer more opportunities and challenges for the students in the data-driven and digital world. The curriculum and pedagogy of the specialisation: Some specialisations may have more comprehensive, rigorous, and practical curriculum and pedagogy, such as Mechatronics Engineering, which integrates mechanical, electrical, electronics, and computer engineering to design and develop smart systems and products. These specialisations may provide more hands-on learning and industry exposure for the students in the interdisciplinary and innovative field. The placement and salary of the specialisation: Some specialisations may have more placement and salary prospects, such as Electronics and Communication Engineering, which deals with the design and development of electronic devices, circuits, and communication systems. These specialisations may attract more recruiters and offer higher salary packages for the students in the core and allied sectors.

When I was comparing CSE options, I was looking for more than just flashy placements. I wanted a university where the Computer Science department actually drives innovation — and that's exactly what I saw at Chandigarh University. The department here feels alive. There's a strong focus on hands-on learning, real-time projects, and regular hackathons that actually prepare you for the industry. What stood out for me was how updated and industry-relevant the curriculum is. From AI, Cybersecurity, and Data Science to Cloud Computing, the department lets you explore areas you're passionate about — and backs that up with certifications from companies like IBM, Microsoft, and Google.
