- Candidates should have passed 10+2 examination with PCB/PCMB with a minimum of 50% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC/ST/BC/PH category.
- Candidates appearing for final year examination in Qualifying Examination can also apply, but they must submit marks memo and pass certificate at the time of admission counseling.
- Trained in-service teachers in elementary education and candidates who have completed an NCTE recognised teacher education programme through face-to-face mode are also eligible.
- The reservation for SC/ST/BC/PH categories shall be as per the rules in force.
- Candidate should have completed 17 years as on 1st July of the admission year.
- Candidates should have passed 10+2 examination with PCB/PCMB with a minimum of 50% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC/ST/BC/PH category.

The programme aims to develop core disciplinary expertise in political theory, contemporary politics, and thought, as well as interdisciplinary perspectives. Students will have multiple exit options, with the possibility of re-joining the programme after a gap. After one year, students may exit with a Certificate, after two years with a Diploma. However, the default options will be three or four years.
