The University of Delhi has informed the Delhi High Court that it will be conducting the final semester/term/year examinations for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses including the School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board, from August 10. "These final year/term/ semester exams will begin on August 10, 2020 and will be conculded on August 31, 2020," the University of Delhi said.
On July 9, Delhi High Court had directed the varsity to release schedule with fresh dates, detailing the schedule of the final-year undergraduate exams. The exams were earlier postponed from July 10 to beyond August 15, considering the safety of students amid the rising coronavirus cases in the country. The HC had also asked the varsity to explain in the affidavit on how it is planning to conduct exams - online, offline or both modes- along with a complete date sheet, to provide clarity to students.
DU, in their affidavit, stated that the date sheet for undergraduate programmes was enclosed, whereas it will release the date sheet for post graduate courses and professional programmes on or before July 20, and will be uploading it on the official website of the university i.e. du.ac.in.
“For such students who are unable to appear in the examinations in OBE mode remotely, scheduled to begin from August 10, 2020, it has been decided to conduct an additional phase of examinations through online/ offline/ blended mechanism, for the purpose of providing another opportunity to the students. This additional opportunity is being afforded as a one-time measure in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and is elaborated hereunder,” the varsity said.
The Varsity further informed that it will begin the first phase of mock test from July 27, and will continue it up to August 1. The mock tests will be conducted to familarise students with this new examination process.
“There shall be three sessions of mock tests per day. The schedule will be notified at least one week before the commencement of the mock tests (on or before July 24, 2020).
Delhi University had earlier informed the Delhi High Court that the final year Undergraduate exams which were scheduled to begin from July 10 has been postponed and will now be conducted in August.
It was done after the Delhi High Court has asked Delhi University to give clarity on the DU online Open Book Examinations which were scheduled to begin from July 10, whether it will be conducted or there would be a change in the schedule.
