IIM-V Admissions 2021: IIM Visakhapatnam launches four new research specialisations

The four new courses launched by IIM-V are strategy, information systems, organisational development and human resource management and economics.

IIM-V Admissions 2021: Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam (IIM-V) recently introduced four more new-age specialisations adding to its list of doctoral programmes from this academic year. According to the official reports, the four new courses launched by IIM-V are strategy, information systems, organisational development and human resource management and economics. In the year 2019, the premier management institution commenced offering doctoral programmes. Among the seven new IIMs established after 2015, IIM-V emerged as the first IIM to introduce a doctoral programme.

Initially, two programmes that IIM Visakhapatnam was offering are finance and accounting, and production and operations management. The programmes began with three students. In 2020, the management institute added two more doctoral programmes: decision sciences and marketing, which got the enrolment of six more students. Now, with the aim to become a premier centre of interdisciplinary research in various areas of business management, IIM-V decided to roll out four more specialisations.

While talking to the media regarding its newly introduced programmes, IIM-V director Professor M Chandrasekhar said that the institute is receiving an overwhelming response to the doctoral programmes offered by the institute. The professor further added, “The institute aspires to emerge as one of the leading schools of management research in the country.”

Professor Chandrasekhar further discussed the features of IIM-V’s doctoral programmes and said that the institute frequently conducts research seminars for scholars. The director further shared that “Renowned faculty from India and abroad enlighten students on current research trends and challenges confronting businesses. A management faculty from University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, USA recently participated in a research seminar of the institute.”
