Dr. R K Mishra, Senior Professor, Director and ONGC Subir Raha Chair Professor at the Institute of Public Enterprise, is a graduate of International Management Programme, SDA Bocconi, Milan, Italy. He has been a Fellow of British Council and Commonwealth Secretariat. He has been on the boards of a few public and private sector enterprises. He is on the Advisory Panel on Corporate Governance constituted by the Govt of India. He has considerable experience of teaching and guiding research for the doctoral degree in management, economics, public administration, and commerce. His current interests include modernization of State, civil service systems, financial administration, environmental administration, privatization, SOE reforms, restructuring, poverty management, and good governance.

Q. What are the three things that your institute is doing that will enable it to differentiate itself from the competition?
The three things that differentiate IPE from others are:
- Holistic Approach: Not limited to teaching but the overall development of the student. Making students smarter through experience sharing, a better comprehension of knowledge. Focus on developing action-oriented people who can go out and apply their learning. Focus on MDP/Research/ Consulting/Training
- Transparency is the Key: All the important aspects related to fees, placements, faculty, accreditations, etc. are in the public domain.
- Continuous interaction: Continuous interaction with all the stakeholders including government, students, boards, institutes, etc. in order to understand the changes happening at the national and global level. This helps us in staying current in the present context. This enables us to make the students future-ready.
Q. What are the top three initiatives are undertaken by you that are helping your students become more industry ready?
The top three initiatives undertaken by IPE are:
- Industry interface through Internships, Alumni network, etc.
- Application of Knowledge through participation in events, industry visits in India and abroad, projects, case studies, etc.
- Delivery of the Knowledge by simulating industry scenarios.
Q. What are the key attributes that a student should have in order to qualify for your institution and to get top grades in your institution?
In order to qualify for IPE - Candidates must have a good score of CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT/ATMA
In order to get top grades in IPE - Yearning for knowledge, Ability to take initiative, Adaptable and Flexible, Optimist
Q. Which programme/s would you say is/are your best? What is it that helps your institution differentiate itself for this programme?
Institute of Public Enterprise, provides Management education and all the specialisations under it are need-based and recognised internationally. It prepares the student to do well in life, makes the student competitive and industry-ready.
Q. What are you doing to drive better campus placements for your current students and alumni? What would you say are the key recruitment trends for your institute (observed over the past five years)?
Faculty responsible for placements are well connected and aware of the needs and changes in the industry. A focused approach by Placement In-charge of the institute.
Preparing students as per Industry. Exposure to changing technologies like data analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, etc.
The key recruitment trends for our institution observed over the past five years are:
- Banking, Taxation firms, IT firms, BFSI’s are the major recruiters across functions
- Recruiters hire students for locations outside AP/Telangana as well
- There are an equal number of girls and boys on the campus
- Students do not hesitate to travel outside the state for work
- Non-technical courses are in demand
