Experience along with teaching is my style of learning: Surendra Prasath S
Being an Engineer who was looking to improve his career, I took a step further and planned to study management. I was more into Biology, during school, as it was the subject which I could more relate with for real life examples. So, I took Biology as my major in my school. But my career path turned towards engineering because of five marks. Then my life took a different path, I did my engineering and got good grades. I later joined an IT company as a software developer. However, in a span of few months, I lost interest in that job, although I was performing well, which made me realise that I was not meant for this job.
I took a break and started looking for an alternate career path. Management was the only profession which I could more relate to, so I decided to take management as my career. I joined coaching institutes to crack the exams for the B-Schools. While preparing for the exam I short listed few colleges that I could pursue MBA from. Of these, ISBR Business School was the only college I saw was giving experience along with learning. That is what made me choose this institute.
I was looking for colleges outside my state as I wanted to explore new places and to be in college which had diversified set of students. This would help me improve myself more of as a professional to handle clients from all part of the world. Few colleges had fulfilled my criteria and ISBR was one of them.
I began preparing for entrance exams and took coaching for the same. I appeared for CAT, NMAT and XAT and got some decent scores in the entrance tests. This gave me a long list of colleges that I could apply for. I appeared for three colleges and got selected in two. I chose ISBR after considering various factors and this college provide more of an experience rather teaching which my style of learning is.
I spend my time in college mainly on experiencing new things. Since I am an introvert now and do not want to be one in the future, so I am in the process of making myself comfortable among others. This makes me experience new things daily as I am learning from a diversified group of friends. I love to attend classes which give me practical knowledge rather theoretical. I am part of media club which makes me to meet people who are from corporate world and also engage in many cultural events. I am also a part of research committee which makes me to do some on and off field research on various fields. This helps me in learning new things that are not a part of curriculum but a part of career. I was also a part of social learning, as a part of which I and my group of friends renovated a government school which was in worst condition. By engaging in these works, I have learnt many things that one cannot learn through books. Within a short period, I see myself more of a professional rather than a student. The college has provided me various opportunities to learn and experience things that would help to mould myself as a better person.
