The first step to applying for admission to the management programme is to appear for a qualifying exam. I appeared for exams such as CAT, CMAT, IIFT, SNAP and MAT. To prepare well for these exams I used to give mock tests to evaluate my preparation on weekly basis. I cleared CAT with 60 per cent, CMAT with 75 per cent and MAT with 81 per cent.

In my early school days, I wanted to become a professor and pursue a career in the Commerce domain. So, I opted for the Commerce stream in my higher secondary classes. After schooling, I chose to opt for BBA in Business Economics. Through this, I got exposed to management and corporate life. After graduation, I started looking for jobs, but then I realised that doing  PGDM or Master’s degree will give me more exposure and job opportunities. This was the time when I started applying for admission in PGDM programmes at different colleges such as JIMS Kalkaji. I read about the college on various platforms and also spoke to few alumni. This is how I ended up in JIMS Kalkaji - Jagannath International Management School to do Post Graduate Diploma in Management (International Business). Choosing JIMS Kalkaji to pursue PGDM IB was a good decision because of the teaching methodology here. Most of the faculty members are from corporate background and are always ready to guide in every possible way they can. They always boost our morale to do more in life.

On the basis of my score in CMAT and MAT exam I was called for admissions at various institutes. I appeared for Group Discussions and Personal Interview round at three different colleges and got through with two of them. I chose JIMS Kalkaji over the other institute.

The classes for PGDM-IB are conducted between 11 am and 5.30 pm. The institute is very strict with attendance discipline. Every student must have at least 75 per cent of the attendance.

We have a lot of students conducted activities under the guidance of faculty members. I find Guest Lectures interesting. Eminent personalities across industries are invited to talk about their company and various management topics which provides insight to corporate life. Our college has various student Clubs such as HR club, Finance club, Innovation club, NSS club (social welfare) and Marketing Club. There is also E-Cell (Entrepreneurship Cell). I am a part of the Finance Club and NSS Club. I have been a part of organising committee for various seminars and budget discussion panels. I have been involved in CSR initiatives also such as giving donations (clothes, books) to Old Age Homes and Swachhta Abhiyan. As far as my experience is considered, I have grown into a better person now. I understand the importance of coordination between the team or a group, how to lead a team and complete the work in given time. In this one year, the college has prepared me in such a way that I feel more confident about the future and have acquired many interpersonal skills. I am looking forward to enhancing my communication and interpersonal skills more as soon we will be appearing for placements.
