It is important to be focused and make a proper strategy for preparation, says Yashna

I was interviewed for Vivekanand Business School and one other college; I was hoping to get into Vivekanand Business School as I heard good reviews about it and even my relatives are an alumnus of this college. The interview process of Vivekanand Business School was completely online due to the Pandemic, but it was conducted very nicely and hassle-free.

I was in Class 10 standard when I was supposed to choose stream, I chose Humanities with an optional subject of Psychology. In 2015, hearing about Psychology intrigued me, and it was the perfect time to explore the subject and it became my favorite subject in school. This interest and the uniqueness of the subject made me decide that I want to pursue Psychology further. I took admission to Jai Hind College, Mumbai, and studied BA in Psychology and Political Science. In my Under graduation, I studied Organisational Psychology which was a fun subject and I had to decide what I want to do in the future, that is why I opted for PGDM and I am aiming to specialise in HR and work in the corporate world. I believe the mix of Psychology and the subjects in HR, will make me understand the works of the HR domain properly.

While applying for PGDM, I appeared for ATMA, a national qualifying exam and got a seat in Vivekanand Business School. I did join a coaching class called T.I.M.E. I started preparing for it in my third year of college. I had to manage both my college and the preparation for the exam. The best way to prepare for an entrance exam is to understand the pattern, its syllabus and to give mock exams. It is important to be focused and make a proper strategy for preparation. If you are determined enough, then you can surely crack the entrance exam and get admission in the choice of your college.

I have completed my first year of college, and because of the pandemic it is all online, but this hasn’t stopped me from exploring different opportunities and making a name for myself. We have online classes starting from 9 am going on till 5 pm with enough breaks in between.

We have different student cells to join and contribute towards it. I am the coordinator of the Alumni Cell, an active member of the blog team for our college, four of which have been published on the college website, whereas I have two blogs published in IIM Rohtak’s and XIMB Bhubaneshwar’s monthly magazine. I am also the editor in chief for our magazine of the General Management Cell in our college.

The college years are a crucial part of our lives since they allow us to discover ourselves and live life. The college has a significant impact on our professional lives. It allows us to explore and improve our abilities through extracurricular activities. These opportunities have shaped me to become a better person. I used to be an Introvert person and now I am open and can express myself.

I am hoping that college reopens soon so that I can meet my friends. They are people that I have for a lifetime, they have helped me become a better version of myself.

I plan to continue a career in HR, and hone my skills and looking forward to work in a professional, growth-oriented organisation where I can make a significant contribution to the success of myself and the organisation.
