No one thought that what usually happens on campus could also be successfully organised online , says Janhavi

After graduating, I immediately signed up for the IMS entrance exam course. I think that attending the course is very important, because the teacher will give ideas and skills to solve the sum, will give time to a problem and some formulas to solve the sum of quantitative and logical reasoning. So the exams I took were CAT, MAT, CMAT, TISSNET, and CET. So my MAT and CMAT scores are good.

As I was never interested in prowling my career in Science, so I chose Commerce. It was difficult for me to choose my undergraduate course because there are so many options, and I was not sure what must be done in my life at that time. After receiving guidance from my cousins, I decided to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Management. In the second year of BMS, we had to choose among Marketing, Finance and Human Resources majors. That was the time to understand my area of interest and what I am good at. After realising all this, I preferred to continue my career in the Human Resource domain. When I did an internship in this field, the idea of pursuing my HR career became more optimistic because it was part of our curriculum. When I was about to finish my course, I actually did my research and found many options such as CS, CWA, certification, etc. But after an in-depth discussion with my professors, they guided me to take PGDM as a better choice for my future. Like PGDM, the curriculum is based on the business world. It has always been my dream to learn according to the new practices and laws that the business world follows. When I considered doing my PGDM in HR, I knew it would help me gain in-depth knowledge in the field. And this is how I landed in this college to pursue and achieve my goals.

After graduation, I immediately signed up for the IMS entrance exam preparation programme. Mainly I gave interviews at three institutes, Dalmia, Saraf College and VES Business School. I was selected at all three colleges, but due to the pandemic, my parents did not allow me to commute far. They were even confident in Vivekanand Business School because their friends completed their studies here, and even this college was nearby and enjoys a great reputation in Mumbai. The only challenge I faced here was to crack interview based on current affairs and the rest all was smooth.

I was very happy to attend my first online lectures because this was something new. As time goes by, we were all used to these online meetings. But I still hope to go to college before finishing my degree. As this online teaching was new to the faculty and even they faced difficulties but still they here do their best to make us understand these concepts and provide real-life examples as much as possible. The students here are very much cooperative and friendly. After a month in the college, we all encountered various cells in the college and now I am part of three student-driven cells and I am very active in them. Many different student cell events have been organized by the college. Every month, these cells organise events and for some of the events, I was on the organising committee of the event. No one thought that what usually happens on campus could also be successfully organised on the online platform. It is this kind of situation that helps us accept the difficulties in life. So, learning from these events was how real corporate life is, teamwork, taking initiative, leadership skills and out-of-the-box ideas. If given the opportunity, I would like to lead an important team project in my college. So this college has completely changed me. I was an introvert. Now I have become an extrovert person. I have the confidence to speak up, take the initiative, and lead the team. While pursuing the PGDM programme, all my fears about public speaking went away and all this was possible because of the college Thanks to VBS. Under the guidance of the professors, I saw many opportunities, such as personal development, tackling interviews in the corporate and a good start for my corporate life.

From my graduation, I started achieving my small goals. So after completing my PGDM for a year, I will work in an organisation to gain experience and then in near five years, I would get into my dream company and lead an HR team of TCS. As being a woman I want to be independent in life and repay all the investment they made in my education. To look after my parents when they get retired.
