This college has taught me the art of multi-tasking & time management: Tanisha Sharma

The admission process at my college comprised three rounds – introductory and written test, presentation on the topics given two days prior to us and finally an interview with the authorities. Out of the three, the third round proved to be quite difficult for me but the experience was great and only added more to my knowledge

Opting for Science with Maths and Biology was not a tough choice for me in school as I had always been inclined towards these subjects. I was slightly hesitant to whether I should opt for both Biology and Mathematics as the combination tends to make you really occupied with academics. However, I ended up opting for both and managed a 91.5 per cent in Class 12th.

To be honest, PGDM was never the primary option for me while pursuing Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA). I made up my mind while I was getting interested in Social Media and Digital Marketing during my summer break. I began to have an inclination towards creative writing and marketing and realised that solely BCA wouldn't provide me jobs in those fields. That's when I decided to pursue PGDM.

I got to know about ISBR Business School and a couple of other colleges such as XIME, IFIM through Internet which had more or less the same rating and were located in the same area, that is, Electronic City. So, through some research and in terms of economical factors I ended up giving an interview in Delhi for ISBR. One great thing about this college that I noticed in the interview was that the faculty did not believe in making false and big promises regarding the placements and internships and were pretty clear. Hence, the transparency of the faculty present for the interview made me choose this college.

The admission process at my college comprised three rounds – introductory and written test, presentation on the topics given two days prior to us and finally an interview with the authorities. Out of the three, the third round proved to be quite difficult for me but the experience was great and only added more to my knowledge.

I got into the college through MAT for which I could not attend any coaching as I was working with Accenture. Though I had some material with me and also did online classes, mock tests which got me through with a decent percentile in MAT (80.28). After this, I attempted CAT with the help of a crash course at the IMS coaching centre but it did not helped me much. Well, I was trying for MDI Gurgaon as the college was more or less in my native and provides great placements but nevertheless, I am quite certain that ISBR will prove to be a turning point in my career.

The time spent in college is a mix of academics and co-curricular activities comprising of various clubs and committees like the media club in handling various events in campus and the social media pages of the college. Then we have the finance and the marketing club conducting a plethora of quiz, competitions and activities. The academic club designs the academic schedule along with the faculty and then we have the research club and the very important placement committee which deals with conducting placements by meeting the CEO's of various companies. The sports club conducts various sports events and competitions which are loved by one and all.

Moreover, we have the personality development courses like film making, music, yoga, public speaking, social learning which instills a great sense of creativity in us. Personally, I am inclined towards the Marketing Club and the Media Club for my love for writing and Music. Although I'd love to explore all the activities in different trimesters.

This college has taught me the art of multi-tasking and the ability to manage my time for both academics and the extra-curricular activities. I feel that being balanced, whether in terms of our diet, emotions or even our day-to-day activities and career is very important. Excelling is great and trying our hand at other genres will never make us realize where our interest lies. Also, being from the Science background, the subjects of Economics and Finance have made me realize that following the business news is extremely essential in order to keep up with the world and the trends taking place in the current era. Further, the subjects of Management and Organizational Behaviour have taught me the sort of mannerisms and behavior conducted in organizations and what it takes to be the ideal Manager at workplace.

If given a chance, I would love to conduct more Industrial Visits as they would help us in understanding how various sectors work and will provide us with a hands on experience. Moreover, Management cannot be solely understood through texts but with interactions, discussions and expression of thought, presentations and thorough reading of the market trends which will help us to analyse and understand the market better.
