We were encouraged to learn outside the book and participate in activities: Dharshini M
In my school days, I was interested in Science, however, I realised Biology is not my cup of tea. So, I opted for Computer Science as a subject in my senior classes. As I was pursuing my Engineering in Electronics and Communication, this is when I discovered my interest in learning Management Studies. After completing my under-graduation degree, I took a break for a year to decide the future path. I was also doing my internship for few months.
A year later, I made a decision and moved out of my comfort zone. I decided to live independently and hence, started searching for colleges outside my hometown. I shortlisted a few places and then the colleges in those cities. I began my preparation for XAT and MAT exams without coaching. I later received mails from different colleges of which I applied for a few and got called for the interviews. This is when I appeared for the interview process at ISBR Business School. This was one of the well-processed interviews where they were connecting with the students and parents and also presented themselves to the students. I gave a three-step interview and was selected in ISBR. I was also selected for few other colleges as well but something inside me told that this is my college and I followed my gut feeling and I have no regrets.
The time spent in college is the best time. We are learning a lot from our faculties when they share their experiences. The programme is structured in a way that it's not just limited to book and classroom learning but more than that. We were encouraged to learn outside the book, do research and through activities as well. I love to attend classes, which are more engaging than just lectures.
I am an active member of social learning club where we take up one social issue and try giving our view on it. For instance, last trimester we took up a government school and transformed it by cleaning and painting. We raised funds by approaching IT companies for sponsors which also brought out our managerial skills of communicating, managing and networking. I am part of discipline committee and HR club where we have IVs and different activities and programmes related to Human Resource. We had 21-day orientation programme before the academics started, which really made us build a strong bond between each other as we all were from different walks of life and 24 different states of India. I'm so glad that I would have someone to meet whichever part of the country I go. And I as person, I am still learning a lot about the different culture livelihood and so many qualities one should have as a human and as manager or leader.
