Your skillset matter more than your score during final placements, says Minakshi Mishra
Class 9-10th is one of the most critical phase in everyone’s education journey. This is the time when you decide what you would want to study and make a career in. For me, the answer was clear that I wanted to pursue a career in Accounting and Finance. So, I picked up Commerce as a stream in higher education (Class 11-12th). After my graduation, I decided to upgrade my professional skills and explore corporate knowledge and hence, I chose to pursue career in management. It helps me in enhancing my personality and also be job ready. And hence, I selected Vidyalankar School of Business to start my journey in management education.
This was the time, when I narrowed down on VSB as my final institution to pursue management education. I approached VSB and applied for PGDM course. I came to know after my discussion with VSB Admissions Office that you really do not have to worry about entrance exams score at VSB, because what matters during your interview and final placements is your skill-sets and not scores. VSB believes in Interview based selection process. After performance in your Personal Interview, then only you will be selected for this course. One most important thing to remember here is, you really have to well prepare for your interview, as it seems easy but actually it is not at all a cake walk.
During our college timings, we have lectures in the morning and we are engaged in activities in the afternoon. There are many other things such as presentation, cultural and sports activities. You have to participate in every activity. There is also environmental club, where we are taught on safeguarding our environment and importance of climate change and pollution. There are in-class activities that helps to motivate students and bring the best in you. There are different types of committees which conduct different types of activities that help to bring leadership skills in you. I am a member of Cultural Committee, which takes care of organising cultural events. In a way, we secure cultural and traditional values of our country. Well, the platform offered by VSB to me has really helped me knowing and exploring my own skills and talent. It feels like knowing yourself is more better Because, now you realise your own potential and you can show the world what you are and what actually you can bring change to yourself and the society around.
I am good at people skills and therefore I want to make my career in Human Resources and want to become successful HR Professional in multinational company.
