The questions were divided into 5 sections – Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Techniques, Language Comprehension, GK and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. The questions were easy to moderate. Candidates didn't report any surprise question or change of pattern.

Questions in MAT are asked from verbal ability, reading comprehension, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, arrangement, coding decoding, graphs and tables, family tree, blood relation, clocks and calendars, time, speed and distance, statements, etc.

CMAT 2026 Question Paper: Language Comprehension
Language Comprehension section of CMAT 2026 had questions from FIB, Replace underlined phrase, Passive voice, Cloze passage [3 blanks], Parajumbles, Jumbled sentence, Grammar (Compound Sentence, Articles, Noun-types), Sentence Correction. An attempt of 16-17 questions with maximum accuracy will be enough to get a good score in this section.
CMAT 2026 Question Paper: Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation
CMAT exam question paper 2026 had questions on Time-speed-distance, Ratio-Proportion, Profit & Loss, SI-CI, Alligation and Mixtures, Triangles, Probability, Surds & Indices, Quad equation, Linear equation, Pie charts. An attempt of 16-17 questions will be good enough in this section.

Sectional weightage of CMAT is same. Since the Language Comprehension section of CMAT includes reading comprehension passages, it can be considered a lengthy section. However, any other section can also be lengthier due to nature of the questions.
Yes, there is a negative marking in CMAT exam. For each wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted. However, no marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.
If you have appeared for CMAT before then you can prepare for another attempt only with mock tests as you would be already thorough with the syllabus and topics. You would also know your strengths and weakness. So, with CMAT mock tests, you will be able to revise and prepare accordingly. However, if you haven't appeared for CMAT or any national level MBA entrance exam before, you will need to cover the syllabus and then practice mock tests. In both scenarios, GK section will have to be prepared through year books. Only mock tests will not be helpful for CMAT GK.

Logical Reasoning section of CMAT 2026 paper included questions from Directions, Cubes, Counting the number of squares, Linear Arrangement, Family tree, Clocks, Numerical Puzzle, Misc, Logical Venn Diagram, Set Theory, Number Series, Analogy based sequence, Word based Analogy, Odd one out, Alpha numeric, Assertion Reason; Strong/Weak Argument; Assumption; Conclusion. 16-17 attempts will be good enough to meet the sectional CMAT cut off.

CMAT 2026 Question Paper: General Awareness
The General Awareness questions of CMAT question paper 2026, included static and current affairs topics from science, sports, Indian constitution, history, India and its culture. Attempting 8-12 questions will be enough to meet the sectional cut off.
CMAT 2026 Question Paper: Innovation & Entrepreneurship
This section of CMAT exam paper 2026 had questions from usual topics such as Bootstrapping, Startup valuation, Fabian entrepreneur, Angel investment, Lean startup, Trademark, Feasibility analysis, etc. Most of the questions were easy and doable in quick time. Getting 15-17 questions right will be good enough.

Three months may not be enough for CMAT preparation, if you're doing it from scratch. However, if you are preparing for CAT, XAT, NMAT, you can prepare for CMAT in 3 months as you have clear understanding of the syllabus already and you will need exam specific practice only.
