Considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state, Yogi Adityanath led UP Government has put in place strict guidelines and SOPs to ensure the complete safety, health and well-being of the students.
UP School Reopening: Schools across Uttar Pradesh are all set to reopen from today, i.e. October 19, 2020, nearly after 7 months. According to the media reports, state government permitted the reopening of schools for Students of Class 9 to 12 with strict adherence to COVID-19 Guidelines. Considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state, Yogi Adityanath led UP Government has put in place strict guidelines and SOPs to ensure the complete safety, health and well-being of the students. The Education Department of Uttar Pradesh appointed a group of inspection officers who would be visiting schools across the state to assess preparedness for reopening. The task of visiting schools and checking if all the necessary guidelines and protocols have been implemented for reopening of schools is assigned to more than three dozen officers. All these officers reached the allotted districts on Sunday night, i.e. October 18 to conduct the inspection process as the schools reopen and send their report to the government.
Some of the important guidelines and SOPs released by the UP government in context with the school reopening process are listed below:
- Schools are directed to run classes in two shifts. As a part of the arrangement, the Classes for Class 9 and 10 students would be conducted in the morning shift and Class 11 and 12 students would attend classroom lectures in the afternoon shift. The step is taken to avoid overcrowding of the campus.
- As part of the reopening process, schools are directed to call only 50% of students of the total class strength for the in-person classes on alternate days. This is also done to avoid gathering of students on campus in large numbers.
- In order to attend school, students are required to have written consent from their parents.
- While the schools are directed to reopen but not many parents are in favor of sending their ward to school. Therefore, the state government directed schools to continue online classes for all the students along with offline classes.
