We open up vignette to let students explore implication and applications, says Associate Finance Professor at ABBS
In a conversation with Shiksha, Finance Professor at Acharya Bangalore B School (ABBS) Ravi Aditya talks about the blend of lecture, tutorial and practical knowledge that they facilitates to students to make learning more interesting, effective and ever-lasting.
Q: What are the salient features of the teaching methodology adopted by your college? How does this differ from others?
A: The pedagogy in ABBS implements a mixture of lecture, tutorial and practical in such nature that the entirety of the course is delivered to the students which enable them to absorb the subject more clearly and concisely. Case studies form an integral part of the delivery too.
Q: How are you preparing your students to be Industry ready?
A: In every topic, the students are given an opening vignette which is a real-world case scenario, and as the topic progress, the vignette opens up the practical application. At the end of the topic, another closing vignette is shared which gives out the implications and applications of the topic. This methodology makes the students relate to the industry application of the topic.
Q: What are the qualities you are looking for in student applicants? What qualities do they need to do well in your course?
A: A right attitude and immense zeal towards learning.
Q: How do you ensure that your course curriculum is up to date and meets industry requirements?
A: Various value-added and experiential programs are imbibed in the program to keep the students abreast with the changes and latest happenings in the management education. Every course has practical application section which makes the student understand the use of the topic.
Q: Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship? How? Could you cite some examples of these?
A: The college is receptive to innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship, as it has provided seed funds for Incubation in E-cell. We also have the best LRMS software to assist the students and faculties.
