Q: What are the salient features of the teaching methodology adopted by your college? How does this differ from others?

A: We at VBS follow a very active learning technique which includes experiential learning, immersive learning, simulation, case study-based learning, learning through role-plays, flip classroom methodology, etc. These techniques are adopted depending upon the types of subjects and concepts to be dealt with.

With the adoption of such methodologies, the performance of our students has increased immensely. Using these teaching methodologies brings clarity to the students’ concept, boosts their confidence on the subject, generates interests for further quest in that area, and also develops their decision-making ability as a business leader.

Q: How are you preparing your students to be Industry ready?

A: We at VBS take care of the holistic development of our students. We groom the students through the different mentoring sessions which are well designed to take care of their personality, communication, academics, interests, and skills. We also organise mock interviews for our students taken by their Alumni. We organise guest lectures, workshops and training for the students’ time to time. Students get guided by experienced faculty in their internships which many times attract pre-placement offers for the students.

Q: What are the qualities you are looking for in student applicants? What qualities do they need to do well in your course?

A: The applicant should have an interest in understanding business and its operations. Should possess basic knowledge of the subjects. To do well in the curriculum, the student should be sincere in approach, positive, should have the ability to think out of the box and never give up attitude. 

Q: How do you ensure that your course curriculum is up to date and meets industry requirements?

A: Board of studies meeting is conducted every year by VBS. In this meeting, we invite different stakeholders such as experts from corporates, our alumni, parents, teachers, students together for all the domains to discuss the current trend and requirement in the industry and understand the gap if any. We invite suggestions and incorporate recommendations in our syllabus or course structures to benefit our students. So, our course curriculum is always updated to meet industry requirements.

Q: Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship? How? Could you cite some examples of these?

A: Yes, It is very much receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship. The college has an entrepreneurship and Business Incubation Cell which keeps conducting various programmes and competitions for students to bring out innovators and talents among students. The students are judged by a panel of jury members from corporates and by entrepreneurs and best or unique business ideas are awarded. To motivate students for entrepreneurship, seminars are conducted on how to start a business, financial benefits available for lady entrepreneurs, etc.

VBS Infrastructure is well-equipped with all the necessary facilities needed by students. The VBS library is a two-storey digital library with more than 15000 books, thousands of digital resources and premium databases including EBSCO, ProQuest, J Gate, NGEN, ProwessIQ, etc.
