B.Tech Colleges accepting UPTAC in India

For Btech admisison in UPTAC counselling:

• Candidates need at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of reserved category) in the following subjects taken together: Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject/Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.

OR

Candidates must have passed minimum 3 years Diploma examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of reserved category).

The UPTAC registration 2026 will start in May. Eligible candidates must register for UPTAC to take part in the counselling process for admission to various first-year and second-year UG courses at all institutions affiliated with or constituent to AKTU and other state universities. The UPTAC 2026 application form will be available online only at uptac.admissions.nic.in.

The last round of the UPTAC counselling is called the special round. Candidates who have confirmed their seats after last main round of the counselling process are not eligible for this round. Or, all such candidates who have been allotted seats and have paid seat acceptance fee but have not withdrawn in Stage 2 & 3 cannot appear in this round.

Fresh registration are held for the special round. Candidates have to register for using the link available on the official website of UPTAC for participating in UPTAC special counselling round.

In 2024, 87389 seats were offered in BTech courses across all the participating colleges. Candidates who register for UPTAC counselling can check the seat matrix on the official website of UPTAC - uptac.admissions.nic.in. The seat matrix includes following details:

Candidates can fill as many choices as they want in UPTAC choice filling process. The list of courses and institutes available to the candidates is displayed based on the candidates’ rank in the entrance exam. Candidates can select and arrange the choices in order of their preference.

UPSEE is Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam which is no londer held. The last UPSEE exam was held in 2020. Since then, it has been replaced by the JEE Main for admission to undergraduate programs in engineering and other fields in Uttar Pradesh.

Now, UPTAC counselling is held for admission of the candidates to the first year of BTech/BArch/BBA/BMS/BCA/BDes/BPharm/BHMCT /BFAD/BFA/BVoc/MBA/MBA (Integrated)/MCA/MCA(Integrated)/M Tech (Integrated) and 2nd Year (Lateral Entry) of BTech/BPharmacy/MCA.

BTech admission are one based on JEE Main scores. BArch admission is done based on NATA scores and for other courses CURT UG / PG scores are used. The admission is granted via the centralised state level counselling called the Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) conducted by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).

Kanpur Institute of Technology and Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology both are renowned universities for B.E. / B.Tech. However, in terms of affordability, Kanpur Institute of Technology is a better option since the total tuition fee for Kanpur Institute of Technology is INR 165,000 - INR 220,000 and the total tuition fee for B.E. / B.Tech at Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology is INR 244,800. In the total fees that students generally end up paying the university or the college, various other components are also included, such as the exam fee, application fee, lab and other charges.

The fees range for courses offerred by the JSS Academy of Technical Education is around INR 100200 - INR 290970.

There are a total of 1500 seats for all the BTech specialisations in AKGEC. The seat allotment is carried out through UPTAC counselling and based on Class 12, AKGEC score, followed by an interview round. Tabulated below is the specialisation-wise seat intake:

By checking all the reviews of both colleges based on their Fees, Placements, Cut-off, Reviews, Seats, Courses and other details on the Shiksha website. According to them, ABES Engineering College courses are rated 4.0 out of 5 by 27 students while ABESIT same course is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 9 students at Shiksha. Check the official Shiksha site for the current information and reviews of both colleges as reviews keep on changing according to the performance of the college.

However, ABES Engineering College is better than ABESIT in terms of placements, infrastructure and academics. The ranking of ABES is also better than ABESIT every year. Hence, taking admission in ABES will be a better decision than taking admission in ABESIT.

Students pursuing B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), KIT provides a promising platform for placements and skill development. The spectrum of packages offered ranged from a commendable INR 10 LPA as the highest to INR 1.20 LPA as the lowest. Noteworthy companies such as Nucleus Software Exports Ltd., TIAA Global Business Service, and Wipro participated in the placement drive, underscoring the institute's industry connections and appeal to recruiters.
