ICSE Topper Rishi Mundhra shares prep strategy; aims to become a successful Psychiatrist

In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Rishi with 93.4% shared about his ICSE 10th board exam preparation routine, his reaction to Class 10 ICSE results, tips for upcoming aspirants and more. ICSE Board Exams 2024 were conducted from  February 21 and March 28. The Board announced the ICSE Class 10 Results 2024 on May 6.

ICSE 10th Topper Rishi Mundhra has secured 93.4% in ICSE 10th Board Exams 2024 with utmost hard work and consistency. Rishi, a student of Sharada Mandir School, Miramar, aims to crack the top medical entrance exam, NEET and pursue further studies in medical field. Rishi wants to become a Psychiatrist. In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Mundhra talked about his ICSE 10th board exam preparation routine, his reaction to Class 10 ICSE results, tips for upcoming aspirants and more.

ICSE Board Exams 2024 were conducted from February 21 and March 28. The Board announced the ICSE Results 2024 on May 6.

Q: Congratulations on your result! How was your reaction after seeing the results? Did you score what you expected?
A: I sincerely thank you for your wishes. When I saw my results I was happy yet a little disappointed knowing the results could have been better. I expected scoring around 96% rather than 93.4%

Q: Please tell us something about your family background.
A:  My Father works at a pharma company based in Goa while my mother is a homemaker. My elder brother is pursuing MBBS

Q: Please tell me about the stream that you are targeting.

A: I have taken Science and currently aim to pursue medicine. 

Q: What was your strategy to score above 90%?
A: My strategy to score above 90% in ICSE Board Exam 2024 was pretty simple. Revising Maths and Science frequently and get obsessed with studies at least 2 months before exam. Proper Time Management and solving as many PYQs and question papers as possible is the key. 

Q: Did you take any online or offline coaching?
A: Yes, I took offline coaching for Science and Maths.

Q: Who encouraged you the most in this journey?
A: It was my family, especially my mother who encouraged me the most during this journey. 

Q: What was your routine during the ICSE board exam preparation?
A: My routine for ICSE board preparation was that every morning I decided the amount of syllabus to finish and tried my very best to achieve the target. I found that studying was more efficient at night time rather than early mornings for me. 

Q: What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming?
A: My future plan is to become a Psychiatrist

Q: What is your favourite subject?
A: My favourite subject is Biology

Q: Are you planning to begin preparing for any entrance exam?

A: I have started to prepare for NEET exam in 2026.

Q: What is your dream college/institute?
A:  AIIMS Delhi will be the one

Q: What are your future goals?
A: My future goal is to become a Psychiatrist and help in eradicating the wide spread phobia and mental block of the people towards mental health. 

Q: Please share some tips for students prepping to appear in ICSE Board Exams 2025
A: Some tips I can share for students prepping to appear in ICSE Board Exams 2025 is to make sure that they revise their syllabus atleast 3 times. I would also advise them to solve preboard papers of different schools as it sensitizes us to a variety of questions. I would also urge them to answer all the papers in the time allotted . It would be good for them, if they tried to train themselves to complete the paper 15 mins earlier.
