Kerala Board SSLC, Plus One, Plus Two exams will commence from tomorrow, i.e. May 26, under the strict health guidelines issued by Health Ministry.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had earlier informed that the government is taking all the necessary steps possible to conduct the Board exams as per the schedule. The government is taking several measures to ensure the safety of both students and teachers.
Kerala Education Minister Professor C Raveendranath informed, "The Education Department is making all arrangements to bring schools back to normalcy. Schools are being sanitized with the help of local bodies, people's representatives, and the Parent Teachers Association. It will be completed in two days. Fire force will conduct disinfection in all schools."
Some of the guidelines issued by the Kerala government are:
- All students coming to Kerala from other states have to undergo a 14-day quarantine. Also, special arrangements have been made so they can all attempt the Board exams.
- Students who are from containment zones or whose family members are under home quarantine would get separate seating arrangements in the exam hall.
- All the teachers who will be assigned invigilator duty or any other duties have to wear both face masks and hand gloves. Also, every student would be provided with face masks to be worn.
- Kerala government is in the process of purchasing over 5,000 IR thermometers and would be conducting a thermal screening of the people who would attend the Board exams.
- Amid this pandemic, as many as 10,920 students applied for exam center change as they have left the centers for their homes. The Government has made arrangements for the Board question papers to be distributed accordingly.
- The students would also be provided with transportation facilities to reach the SSLC, SSC Board exam centers.
- Post exam, the answer sheets would be kept in the exam centers for seven days and the fire force will disinfect the schools, after which they would be displaced from there.
Earlier, the government of Kerala decided to postpone the SSLC and plus 2 board exam to the first week of June, in view of the Ministry of Home Affairs directive that no classes or examinations will be conducted till May 31.
