Best college for enjoying college life.

Placements: On an annual basis, around 15 percent of students get college placements. The maximum placement package is about 5 LPA. Most finance companies approach our college for freshers. The highest position a person can get is as an accountant or an internal auditor.

Faculty: All teachers are from high profiles and are well experienced. Their teaching quality is very good and fantastic. B.Com is quite relevant but not as an individual career option; it helps students build their base in finance and accounting to pursue different degrees similar to this. Well-educated faculty members are available in our college. Well-qualified CAs, CMAs, and CS professionals teach in our college, and they teach us like their own family. Our college provides full practical knowledge to help us get involved in the activities that our faculty teach us.

Other: I am about to pursue CA, that’s why I chose this course as a career option.

Placements: AJC Bose College in Kolkata, affiliated with Calcutta University, has a dedicated placement cell that assists students with their career opportunities. For better opportunities, students must work hard from day one. Otherwise, the degree will be useless. Currently, I’m pursuing B.A. in English Honours from this college. I would recommend you all to go for it. All our professors are very helpful and can assist you in achieving your goals. This will be a good choice for you all.

Infrastructure: AJC Bose College offers good infrastructure for its courses, including a huge collection of books in the library, well-equipped computer labs, visual representation of the topics, etc. All departments are good, and teachers are very helpful to their students. It also has canteen facilities, and the quality of food is acceptable and reasonable. There are a lot of varieties in the canteen menu. On the other hand, medical facilities are also available on the college premises.

Faculty: Currently, I’m pursuing a B.A. in English Hons. course from AJC Bose College, which is affiliated with Calcutta University. I just love my college faculty. Our college organizes a lot of curriculum activities, like freshers’ welcome, farewell party, etc., which can motivate people to attend the college on a regular basis. The examination of this college consists of internal assessment and end-semester examinations. The examination methods are also very good. My overall experience in this college is so good.

Friendly environment, but limited facilities.

Placements: A general degree college, there is no dedicated placement cell like in engineering or management colleges. Most of the students from our batch did not get campus placements. A few students pursued higher studies like M.Sc. MBA, B.Ed., etc., and some are prepared for government jobs. Companies rarely visit for recruitment, so students mostly rely on off campus opportunities and personal efforts.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good for an undergraduate science and arts college. Classrooms are spacious, and labs are decently maintained with the required equipment. The library has enough books and reference material. The curriculum is as per Calcutta University guidelines, which is more theory oriented and less industry focused.

Faculty: Most of the teachers are well qualified, supportive, and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. Teaching style is simple and student friendly, though sometimes classes get a bit crowded. Connectivity is good since the college is located in the city, making it easier for daily use of computers.

Other: Being a government college, the fees are very low and affordable, so overall it is good value for money.

Placements: Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College is located in Kolkata and is a Government-affiliated institution under the University of Calcutta. It has various undergraduate programs in commerce, arts, and science. Now, in the placement statistics in B.Com honors the highest package is 8.5 LPA. The average package is 4.8 LPA and the lowest salary is Rs. 15,000 per month. Approximately 65% of students get secured placements. Some of the recruiting companies are Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, Deloitte, Cognizant, etc. Students also get internship opportunities in various MSME companies. The top roles offered are accountant and office executive.

Infrastructure: In AJC, classrooms have well-furnished equipment and digital boards to enhance the learning experience. Laboratories are also very good for the Physics, Chemistry, and Zoology departments. For commerce, there is an IT department to libraries with 20,000 books and 14 journal subscriptions, 12 popular science magazines, and 6 daily newspapers. The library is fully air-conditioned and provides an e-library section for digital processing. Wi-Fi is also provided for students as long as the staff members.

Faculty: Teachers in the college are quite knowledgeable and also helpful to students. They offer a very friendly technique of teaching which is very good for students. Semester exams at this college follow the Calcutta University pattern and can be moderately challenging. About 75-80% of students in most departments pass. Overall, AJC Bose College offers a dependable academic environment with good faculty members.

Placements: The passing batches did not get placements, as the college did not offer good placement facilities. The top role offered in this course was a managerial position, and that was too much higher experience.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college was decent. It had a library with Wi-Fi facilities, a canteen, and a gym. Classrooms had the facility of smart classes, but they never ran. The college didn't have a field to play on, so it was a big disappointment for students. Still the location of the college was good.

Faculty: Teachers were well-qualified, helpful, and humble. They took classes regularly and were good at helping students. The course curriculum was not at all relevant to practicality. It was just that a graduation degree had to be obtained, so students opted for this course. Semesters could be challenging at points, but they were never impossible.

Other: The college didn't have any social engagement, which was a big disappointment.

My experience at Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose College from 2020 to 2023.

Placements: In Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose College, there was no placement for any students. There was no kind of package offered by the college for this course, and no company came for recruitment. Students did internships and jobs on their own, and top roles were not offered for this course.

Infrastructure: In this college, the infrastructure was below average and not so good. Wi-Fi was available but the internet was very poor. Labs were good, and their policies and rules were also good. There was no hostel provided for students. The canteen facilities were good. Sports and games events were below average.

Faculty: Teachers were good and qualified to teach students, but not every teacher was helpful for exams. The semester exams were not so difficult, and the passing percentage was around 30–35 marks for each subject. This college was good but not the best maybe it was improving.
