A National Leadership Recognises IIBS Bengaluru’s Academic Culture of Management Excellence
Certain occasions leave an imprint far beyond the event itself. At the International Institute of Business Studies (IIBS), Bengaluru, 1 August 2026 became one such day when Dr. Kiran Bedi described the institution as one of the most well-managed business schools.
Coming from India’s first woman IPS officer and a nationally respected figure in public leadership, the observation carried special significance. It acknowledged the disciplined environment, institutional direction and academic culture that IIBS Bengaluru has worked to build over the years.
Dr. Kiran Bedi visited the campus as the chief guest for the valedictory programme of the PGDM Management Orientation Month (MoM) for the 2026-28 batch. Her presence gave the ceremony a deeper purpose and turned the conclusion of the month-long programme into an enduring lesson in leadership.
Addressing the students, she drew attention to courage, integrity, discipline, responsibility and clarity of purpose. These were not presented as abstract ideals, but as qualities that influence everyday decisions and determine the character of a leader.

An Appreciation Earned Through Collective Effort
Dr. Kiran Bedi’s words were a proud moment for the institute, yet they also reflected the work taking place across the campus every day. Faculty members, administrators, corporate mentors, staff and students have collectively contributed to creating an environment where academic discipline and professional preparation receive equal attention.
Her appreciation carried particular weight because her own career has been defined by decisive administration, public responsibility and the courage to challenge established practices. Recognition from a leader with such experience affirmed the importance of building an institution through consistency, accountability and purposeful management.
A business school is ultimately judged by the people it prepares for the world beyond the campus. Subject knowledge remains essential, but management education must also develop judgment, communication, adaptability and ethical awareness. IIBS Bengaluru seeks to bring these dimensions together through an education model that connects academic learning with workplace realities.
Academic Credentials That Support Quality Education
The academic framework of IIBS Bengaluru is supported by recognised institutional credentials. The institute holds UGC Autonomous status and has earned NAAC ‘A’ Grade accreditation. Its PGDM programme is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, approved by AICTE and recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to an MBA.
IIBS Bangalore is affiliated with Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University. It also holds membership in the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia and AACSB International. These associations connect the institute with broader academic and management education communities.
The institute offers MBA, PGDM and PGDM NextGen Flagship programmes for graduates seeking careers in management and business leadership. Its undergraduate portfolio includes BBA, BCA, B.Com and BA programmes, allowing students to build foundations in business, commerce, technology and the social sciences.
Preparing Students Before the Management Journey Begins
The Management Orientation Month reflects the institute’s belief that preparation for a management career should begin before the formal timetable takes over.
During this intensive month, newly admitted students participate in activities centred on teamwork, communication, leadership, problem-solving and self-management. Experiential sessions encourage them to move beyond familiar routines, work with people from different backgrounds and take responsibility within a team.
The programme also introduces students to the discipline expected in management education. They learn to manage time, communicate their ideas, respond to challenges and evaluate their own strengths. This early exposure helps them enter the academic programme with greater confidence and a clearer understanding of the journey ahead.
The valedictory ceremony marked the completion of this first stage for the PGDM 2026-28 cohort. Dr. Kiran Bedi’s message offered the students a fitting transition from orientation to formal management education. Her emphasis on personal responsibility reminded them that professional growth begins with the standards they set for themselves.
Learning Through Real Business Situations
Management cannot be understood through theory alone. The ability to analyse a problem, work under pressure and make a responsible decision develops through practice.
IIBS Bengaluru therefore integrates classroom study with live projects, internships, corporate assignments, simulations, case discussions and industry-oriented activities. Students encounter situations that require them to interpret information, divide responsibilities, test ideas and present workable recommendations.
Real time experiences help bridge the distance between knowing a concept and using it effectively. They also strengthen communication, teamwork, analytical thinking and professional confidence.
The practical learning environment encourages students to ask questions, evaluate different possibilities and understand the consequences of business decisions. This approach prepares them for workplaces where challenges rarely arrive with predetermined answers.
Specialisations Designed Around Modern Careers
Students today enter a business environment shaped by technology, data, global markets and rapidly changing consumer expectations. IIBS offers career-oriented specialisations that respond to these developments.
The PGDM programme includes Finance with SAP FICO, Marketing with SAP Sales and Distribution, Global Finance with ACCA UK and Bloomberg, Operations with SAP Materials Management, Human Resources with SAP SuccessFactors, Business Analytics with HCLTech, Logistics and Supply Chain Management with SAP MM, and Digital Marketing supported by Google certifications.
MBA students can select from areas such as Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Business Analytics, Operations and Production, Entrepreneurship and Startups, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
The dual-specialisation structure enables MBA students to combine two complementary disciplines. A student may, for example, connect finance with business analytics, marketing with digital strategy, or operations with supply chain management. This wider perspective can help graduates approach business challenges across functional boundaries.
Professional Tools with Value-Added Certifications
Modern organisations expect management graduates to understand the platforms and professional systems used across industries. To support this requirement, IIBS provides access to certification opportunities associated with SAP, ACCA, HCLTech and Google.
These pathways introduce students to enterprise applications, financial practices, analytics, digital technologies and contemporary marketing tools. They add a professional dimension to academic study and allow students to explore skills related to their intended career paths.
The on-campus Bloomberg Terminal Lab offers further exposure to market information and financial research. Students can examine economic developments, monitor market movements and understand how real-time data contributes to investment analysis and business decisions.
Value-added learning opportunities from Harvard Business School and IIM Bangalore broaden the academic experience further. Through subjects related to strategy, leadership, innovation and organisational performance, students gain perspectives that extend beyond the prescribed syllabus.
Bengaluru as an Extended Business Classroom
Location plays an important role in management education, and Bengaluru provides a particularly active learning environment. The city is home to multinational corporations, financial institutions, consulting firms, technology enterprises, logistics companies and an extensive startup community.
Studying in this ecosystem allows students to observe how industries respond to innovation, competition and changing markets. IIBS draws upon this advantage through corporate interactions, industry exposure, professional mentoring and placement preparation.
The institute states that its industry and recruiter network extends to more than 3,000 companies. Organisations associated with this ecosystem include Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, HCLTech, TCS, Capgemini, BNY, Finastra, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, ITC, DHL, FedEx and Flipkart.
The institute’s placement of the PGDM NextGen Flagship Programme carries a placement band of ₹10-22 LPA and a reported median package of ₹16 LPA. The stated placement band for MBA and PGDM students is ₹8-12 LPA.
Individual outcomes depend on several factors, including academic performance, certifications, practical ability, communication, chosen specialisation, interview preparation, recruiter criteria and prevailing employment conditions. The institute’s role is to create the opportunities, training and exposure through which students can compete effectively.
From Recognition to Greater Responsibility
Dr. Kiran Bedi’s appreciation was an honour for IIBS Bengaluru, but its lasting value lies in the responsibility it created. Recognition from a leader known for discipline and administrative courage raises expectations for the future.
For the students of the 2026-28 batch, the occasion delivered an important message at the beginning of their management journey. Leadership does not begin with a title. It begins with the courage to make sound decisions, the discipline to honour commitments, the integrity to act ethically and the willingness to accept responsibility for outcomes.
The event will remain an important chapter in the history of IIBS Bengaluru. It celebrated the institute’s management culture while setting a higher benchmark for the years ahead.
Dr. Kiran Bedi’s words acknowledged what the institution has achieved. Her message challenged its students to carry those standards into their careers and grow into leaders defined by competence, character and purpose.
