What is the Nabanna Scholarship

Nabanna Scholarship is a financial aid scheme of the West Bengal government. It helps students from low income families keep studying. Support is given after Madhyamik, after Higher Secondary and after graduation. The money comes from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund.

One rule makes this scheme different from others. It is not meant for students with very high marks. Marks Needed for the Nabanna Scholarship

This scholarship has both a lower limit and an upper limit. For example, if you scored 62 per cent in the WBCHSE 12th Class exam, you cannot apply, because your marks are above 60 per cent. If you scored 48 per cent, you still cannot apply, because your marks are below 50 per cent. Your marks must stay between these two limits.

Income and Other Conditions

Yearly family income must not cross INR 1,20,000. You must not be taking any other scholarship or stipend for the same course. This covers both government and non-government schemes. You can register only once in 365 days.

2. Click Signup. Enter your mobile number. Verify it with the OTP. Set a password.

3. Log in with your mobile number and password.

4. Fill in your personal, academic and bank details. Copy them exactly as they appear on your papers.

5. Upload each document as a PDF. Keep every file under 500 KB.

6. Check all entries once. Then submit.

7. Save your reference number. You will need it to track the form.

Keep your course name, year and semester ready with you. The self-declaration asks for these. Students of Visva Bharati University, Vidyasagar University and the University of North Bengal can get this confirmed at their department office.

• Prayer addressed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, signed by you, with your full address, mobile number and email ID

• Recommendation to the Hon’ble Chief Minister from your local MLA or MP

• Family income certificate from a competent authority such as a DM, SDO, BDO, Joint BDO or an officer of equal rank

• Self-declaration signed by you, stating your present course, year or semester, and whether you receive any other scholarship

• Countersignature of your institution head on that self-declaration, with stamp and seal

• Admit card of your 10th standard examination

• Mark sheet of your qualifying exam

• Rank card of the entrance exam, for professional courses like Diploma Engineering, BE, B.Tech, MBBS, Law, Nursing and Pharmacy

• Allotment letter for admission in the above courses

• First page of your bank passbook, showing account number, IFSC and account holder name

• Admission receipt for the current academic year or semester

Nabanna Scholarship Rules Students Often Miss

Two rules are behind most of the rejections in this scheme. The first is the 90 day rule. Your documents must be uploaded and the form submitted within 90 days of registration. If you register early and then forget to complete the form, the 90 day period will end and your application will lapse.

The second is the 365 day rule. You can register only once in a year. So if you face a problem, do not register a second time in a hurry. Correct the form you have already started.
