The Government of Punjab offers five scholarship schemes this session. They are for SC, OBC, EBC and DNT students from Class 1 up to college. There is also one scheme for children whose parents do cleaning or health-hazard work. For most schemes, the family income must not be more than INR 2.5 lakh a year. 

The amount ranges from INR 4,000 a year to INR 20,000 a year, based on the scheme and course. College students at universities like Panjab University, PEC Chandigarh and DAV College Jalandhar can also apply under the post-matric schemes. All forms are filled on scholarships.gov.in. Punjab Scholarship 2026-27 Latest Updates

The last date for all three pre-matric schemes was September 25, 2026. As for this moment, the student application window is closed. You can check the NSP Portal for more information. These schemes are for Class 1 to 10 students. The Post Matric Scholarship for SC students is open till November 15, 2026. The PM YASASVI Post Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC and DNT students is open till November 20, 2026. From this session, the SC post-matric scheme runs on the NSP. Earlier, students applied on the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Portal of Punjab.

What is Punjab Scholarship?

Punjab Scholarship is not one single scheme. It is a group of five schemes for Punjab students. Some are run by the Centre and the state together. All five are listed under the State of Punjab on the NSP. The Punjab Scholarship Portal students used before was the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Portal. For 2026-27, all these schemes are on scholarships.gov.in. The money goes straight into the student's bank account.

Punjab Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility for SC and OBC Students

These points apply to both post-matric schemes.

• You must be a resident of Punjab.

• You must belong to the SC, OBC, EBC or DNT category.

• You must have passed 10th Class.

• Your family income must be INR 2.5 lakh a year or less.

• You must study at a recognised school, college or institute.

Students of PSEB Class 12th in 11th or 12th Class fall under this group.

Punjab Pre Matric Scholarship Eligibility

These points apply to the pre-matric schemes.

• You must be a resident of Punjab.

• You must study in the class the scheme covers.

• You must be promoted from your previous class.

• Your bank account must be linked with Aadhaar.

• The PM YASASVI Pre Matric scheme is only for government school students. Private school students cannot apply under it.

• In one family, only two boys can get the PM YASASVI Pre Matric scholarship. There is no such limit for girls.

The amount depends on the scheme and your course. Pre-matric schemes pay a fixed amount. Post-matric schemes pay by course group.

Pre Matric Scholarship Amount

Post Matric Scholarship Amount for SC Students

The amount is paid as an academic allowance. It depends on your course group and whether you stay in a hostel.

Group 1 covers courses like medicine, engineering, management and agriculture. Group 2 has other professional degree and diploma courses. Group 3 covers other graduate and postgraduate courses. Group 4 covers 11th Class, 12th Class and other non-degree courses. Compulsory fees that cannot be refunded are paid on top. Students with disabilities get 10 per cent extra academic allowance. SC students at Guru Nanak Dev University, Khalsa College Amritsar and Government Mohindra College Patiala can apply under this scheme.

PM YASASVI Post Matric Amount for OBC, EBC and DNT Students

This scheme gives an academic allowance plus a tuition part. The total changes by course group.

Students can check with institutes like Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, IIT Ropar and NIT Jalandhar whether this scheme applies to their course.

Punjab Scholarship Important Dates 2026-27

NSP OTR Registration for Punjab Scholarship

You must finish One Time Registration (OTR) before you apply. Follow these steps.

1. Download the NSP OTR app from the Google Play Store.

2. Enter your Aadhaar number and the mobile number linked to it.

3. Verify the OTP sent to your phone.

4. Complete face authentication in the app.

5. Note down your OTR number. You will need it to log in.

How to Apply for Punjab Scholarship 2026-27 Online

Once your OTR is ready, you can fill the form. Here are the steps.

• Go to scholarships.gov.in.

• Click on "Apply For Scholarship" under the Students section.

• Log in with your OTR number.

• Choose the right Punjab scheme for your class and category.

• Fill in your personal, school and bank details.

• Upload the documents asked for in the form.

• Check all details once more. Then click on final submit.

• Save or print a copy of the form.

After this, your school or college checks the form online. At Punjabi University Patiala, the Post Matric Scholarship Cell handles this step. Students of Rajindra Medical College Patiala can ask their own institute office.

Punjab Scholarship Payment Status

The money is sent through DBT to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account. You can check it on the PFMS "Know Your Payment" page. If the money does not come, check your Aadhaar seeding first. Then check with your bank. Students at Punjab Agricultural University, GADVASU Ludhiana and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana can ask their institute nodal officer for help.

Punjab Scholarship Renewal and Applying for More Than One Scheme

You can get only one scholarship scheme in one academic year. If you are chosen for two, pick one and tell your institute. For the PM YASASVI Pre Matric scheme, renewal happens on its own. Your school confirms your promotion and attendance. You need at least 75 per cent attendance every year. If you repeat a class, you will not get the scholarship for that year. Post-matric students should check the renewal option on the NSP each year. Students at Chandigarh University and Lovely Professional University can ask their scholarship office about the renewal process.
