The UP Scholarship 2026-27 is officially called the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Scheme. It helps students from Classes 9 to 12 meet their education costs. It also helps students in graduation, post-graduation, diploma and other post-matric courses. Students can complete UP Scholarship apply online through the official portal. The Government of Uttar Pradesh runs this scheme through three departments: Social Welfare, Backward Classes Welfare and Minority Welfare. Students from General, SC, ST, OBC and Minority categories can all apply. The scheme has three parts. Pre-Matric is for Class 9 and 10. Post-Matric Intermediate is for Class 11 and 12. Dashmottar is for courses after Class 12, like graduation, post-graduation and diploma. A student must meet these conditions to apply.

• Students must live permanently in Uttar Pradesh.

• Students must study in a recognized school, college or university.

• Students pursuing higher education at institutions such as AKTU, Banaras Hindu University and CCS University Meerut, University of Lucknow, provided the institution is registered on Scholarship Portal.

• Class 9 and 10 students come under Pre-Matric scholarship.

• Class 11 and 12 students come under Post-Matric Intermediate scholarship.

• Students in graduation, post-graduation, diploma and other courses after Class 12 come under Dashmottar scholarship.

• Family income must not be more than INR 2,00,000 a year for General, OBC and Minority students.

• Family income must not be more than INR 2,50,000 a year for SC and ST students.

• Students from other states can apply under Post-Matric Other State category if they meet the rules.

• Students must have passed the last exam they took.

UP Scholarship Amount and Benefits

The scholarship has two parts. One part is a maintenance allowance. The other part is fee reimbursement. The amount depends on the course group. It also depends on whether the student stays at home (day scholar) or in a hostel.

General, SC and ST category - Post-Matric maintenance allowance (per year)

Here is the yearly maintenance allowance for General, SC and ST category students.

OBC and Minority category - Post-Matric maintenance allowance (per month)

OBC and Minority category students receive this allowance on a monthly basis.

Fee reimbursement is paid separately from this allowance. For Dashmottar students, the university or affiliating agency checks the fee before it is locked on the portal. Students enrolled at universities like such as AKTU, University of Lucknow, DBRAU AGRA and CCS University Meerut fall under the same registration requirement.

• The exact amount is not fixed. It changes with course, college and category.

UP Scholarship OTR (One Time Registration)

OTR is the first step. A student must do this before filling the scholarship form.

• OTR has been compulsory since the 2025-26 session. It stays compulsory for 2026-27 too.

• Students need a working mobile number and Aadhaar e-KYC to complete OTR.

• Each student can create only one OTR. Making more than one OTR can get you banned.

• You must finish OTR first, then fill the actual scholarship form.

• OTR is not the same as the scholarship application. It comes before the application.

How to Apply for UP Scholarship 2026-27

Follow these steps to complete UP Scholarship apply online for the 2026-27 session.

1. Go to the official UP Scholarship portal at scholarship.up.gov.in.

2. Complete OTR first, if you have not done it. Use your mobile number and Aadhaar e-KYC.

3. Choose the scholarship category for your class and course.

4. Log in with your OTR number and password.

5. Fill in your personal, academic, income, bank and college details.

6. Upload your documents and a passport-size photo.

7. Check everything once before you submit.

8. Submit the form online.

9. Take a printout of the final form.

10. Give the signed hard copy and documents to your college.

How to Check UP Scholarship Application Status

Students can track their application at any stage through the official portal.

• Login to UP Scholarship portal using your registered OTR number and password.

• Go to the application status or dashboard section on the portal.

• Check whether the application shows as submitted, verified, forwarded or under scrutiny.

• An application marked as submitted does not mean the scholarship is approved. It must still clear institution and district-level verification before payment.

• Students can track further updates until the fund transfer stage is reflected on the portal.

UP Scholarship Renewal 2026-27: How to Reapply

Students who got the scholarship last year do not need to fill a fresh form. They can log in and submit a shorter renewal form instead.

• Go to scholarship.up.gov.in and click on renewal login under the student section.

• Enter your registration number, date of birth, password and the captcha code.

• Check your old details and update only what has changed, like your class, marks or fee receipt.

• Upload your latest marksheet and fee receipt.

• Check the form once and submit it before the last date.

Keep your bank account and Aadhaar updated on the portal. This helps avoid delays in getting your scholarship amount. 

Common Mistakes to Avoid in UP Scholarship Application

• Selecting the wrong scholarship category or course group while applying.

• Entering income or caste details that do not match the uploaded certificate.

• Using a bank account that is not Aadhaar-seeded.

• Choosing Fresh instead of Renewal, or the other way round, by mistake.

• Uploading expired or incorrect income certificate.
