B.Sc. in Botany - Batch of 2024
3.6
2Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
The college campus is large, and greenery is maintained.
Placements: The college neither offers nor arranges placements, nor does it have any placement options or a placement cell. A few months ago, the college did organize a job recruitment or a similar type of arrangement, but very few students applied for it.
Infrastructure: As a student of the Science block, I'm aware only of the lab conditions in our block. The college has well-equipped labs for Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology. The labs are up-to-date and have the basic necessities and tools needed for day-to-day functioning and practical work. The college does not have its own canteen. The college library is well-maintained and clean.
Faculty: I had Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology as my subjects in the first and second years. The faculties of these subjects are knowledgeable and helpful with inquiries. My Chemistry and Botany teachers supported me throughout my college years. The semester exams are not very tough, and almost all the students pass them.
Other: The college infrastructure needs some uplifting. The campus is large and well-maintained. The college organizes competitions and also sends students to other competitions too. I've been representing my college in debate and speech competitions and managed to bring home the 1st positions too.

B.A. (Hons.) in Philosophy - Batch of 2026
3.4
2Placements2Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
It offers basic degrees and it has a calm campus.
Placements: I am from the 2023-26 batch in the B.A. (Hons.) in Philosophy course at Biramangol College. No placements or internships happen for our course, and roughly 0% of students get placed. There are no direct packages. Companies recruit students with a package that ranges from 2-3 LPA. No top roles are offered here, and most aim for UPSC, SSC, M.A., or NET/JRF. The college is okay if we want an affordable degree while preparing for exams. It is not ideal for placements, but fine for academic goals.
Infrastructure: For B.A. Philosophy, we mainly use regular classrooms and the library, which is well-stocked. Wi-Fi is there, but unreliable. Labs exist only for science streams and not for us. The hostel is okay, and rooms are livable. Mess food is average, often repetitive. The canteen offers basic snacks at low prices. There is no proper medical room, but clinics are nearby. Sports facilities are minimal, mostly just a ground is used informally. The infrastructure average.
Faculty: Teachers are generally helpful and qualified, though some just finish the syllabus without deeper discussion. Teaching quality is okay, and mostly there are traditional lectures. The course curriculum is standard in Philosophy, and more academic than industry-focused. We do not directly become job-ready. Semester exams are average in toughness if we study beyond basics and get into it slightly deeper. The pass percentage is high, and it is around 80-90%, so many students clear them without a big trouble. Teachers are decent here.
Other: I chose B.A. Philosophy at Biramangol College because of its low fees, personal interest, and time to prepare for SSC/UPSC. The best things about the course are that it builds critical thinking and has a relaxed pace. I wish it had more practical exposure, career talks, or debates. A few small events are organised. The campus crowd is mixed and calm, with basic facilities. The area is well-connected, and nearby shops are helpful. Some scholarships exist, like Ishan Uday. Few extracurricular activities are conducted beyond annual functions.
