Review of Black Diamond College of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: The placement cell of BDCET identifies the industry needs and demands from time to time and prepares students who are on the threshold of an exciting career in the field of technology. The placement cell is committed to continuous learning and creating positive ideas through rigorous training to prepare the young techies. Our primary objective is to enrich students' human capital by creating a learning environment. The college is dedicated to helping students to achieve worthwhile positions in different fields in corporate sectors. Students' communication skills are enhanced by providing communication and organisational behaviour courses. For the overall personality development, regular counselling sessions are organised on various prospects of personality development like positive thinking, body language, time management, stress management and communication skills. The college invites psychologists and career counsellors to conduct these sessions, motivate students and help them to improve the power of assimilation and retention. Top recruiters such as Hindalco, SEPCO, TCS, Simplex, Vedanta, Bhusan Power & Steel and SPS Group visit the college to conduct placements.
Infrastructure: The hostel looks like a resort, and the environment there is free from noise. Hostel facility is available for both boys and girls. Three sharing rooms are available, and they are well furnished with attached washrooms. The hostel is facilitated with intercom and internet connection, 24 hours electricity and water supply provision with common water purifiers, line stabilizers and generators. There are indoor and outdoor games facilities, kitchen and dining hall, and common study room inside the hostel building. Each hostel is looked after by the responsible hostel superintendent, 24 hours caretakers and a qualified team of doctors to take care of the health of students. As the campus is situated at a distance of 2 kilometres from Jharsuguda town on the state highway, transport facility is provided to the students as well as employees. BDCET owns fourteen buses for transportation at different batches. The campus is highly attractive and Wi-Fi enabled. The campus is spread over around 30 acres, and it is completely eco-friendly and pollution free. It has about 2 lakh square feet of built-up area with well equipped modern facilities. Other facilities like library, laboratories, computer centres, workshops, sports, extracurricular activities, medical facilities, cafeteria and seminar hall are provided.
Faculty: The scheduled timings are 8:00 AM to 3:20 PM and 9:50 AM to 5:10 PM, depending on the year of the course. Projects allotted are good, and we also got good guidance. Exams are conducted in a very disciplined manner, and exam dates scheduled are based on BPUT because the college is affiliated to BPUT University. The methods of teaching used and the teaching quality are good. I had a good experience at my college. The timings of the classes are quite hectic for the first three years. Most of the time goes in projects, exams, surprise tests, assignments and importantly attendance. Most of the teachers teach very passionately, although no teacher spares if students bunk the classes.
