Cotton University has concluded the Online Counselling process for admission to UG courses. Cotton University admission 2023 to UG courses is based on CUET UG scores followed by the counselling conducted at the university level. Cotton University concluded UG admissions 2023 after the release of merit lists up to two rounds. As a Higher Education institution, Cotton College has gone through several milestones from the initial phase of being under Calcutta University to the present when it is one of the full-fledged autonomous state universities of Assam. It is a Public State University established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam.

It was established in 2017 by the provisions of an Act enacted by Assam Legislative Assembly to merge the Cotton College State University and Cotton College.
