The General Medical Council (GMC) is one of the UK organizations responsible for maintaining medical education and practice standards within the country. You may have been trained at any other medical school outside the UK, which means you need to be recognised by the GMC so that you can practice medicine in the UK. To get your degree recognized, you have to go through a certain process. First, you need to check if your medical institution is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. If it is, then most likely your degree is accepted by the GMC. If not, you may have to go through a more rigorous process. The details that you are required to fill in the Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) form include the name and address of the institution awarding your degree, the dates of your degree, and details of the course content and any other qualifications that you may have obtained. Once you fill out the PMQ form, you are supposed to send it to the GMC for verification. The GMC will get in touch with your medical institution to verify the details you have provided on the PMQ form and may seek additional information. Once your degree has been verified, they will let you know whether it has been accepted or if you have to take further steps to get it accepted.
