Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, the conducting body of TANCET Counselling conducts the process online. The TANCET counseling process involves several steps with a physical document verification round. Step-wise process for TANCET counseling is as follows:

• Counselling Registration
• Publication of TANCET rank list
• Choice filling
• Publication of tentative allotment
• Confirming tentative allotment
• Publication of provisional allotment
• Supplementary counseling round
• SCA to SC counseling

TANCET counselling is conducted around a month after the scorecard download window is closed. TANCET counselling is held in multiple rounds, including publication of rank list, general counselling for MBA and MCA, supplementary counselling for bith MBA and MCA.

Every year Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai invites application from eligible Degree holders for admission to MBA/ MCA courses offered in Government, Government Aided Engineering and Arts and Science Colleges, University Departments of Anna University/ Regional Centres, Annamalai University.

TANCET scores are valid for a period of one year. Candidates aspiring for admission in 2023-24 exam session can only use the TANCET 2023 scores for admission. Candidates who wish for an MBA Admission in any of the TANCET participating colleges in 2024-25 batch must appear for TANCET 2024.

Irrespective of the 2023 score, DTE Tamil Nadu will not consider the TANCET 2023 scores for 2024 admission. Similarly, candidates planning to apply for MBA Admission in 2025-26 batch, must apply for the TANCET 2025 exam.

TANCET application fee may or may not change across exam sessions. The application fee for TANCET was revised previously. Earlier, candidates had to pay INR 400 if they belonged to reserved categories and INR 800 if they belonged to unreserved categories. However, the fee for all categories was hiked. Unreserved categories had to pay INR 1000 and INR 500, respectively. Since the exam fees was revised in the recent session, Anna University is unlikely to change the same again. However, the application details along with the TANCET registration fee is to release soon.

Anna University does not release the TANCET form correction window. Therefore, candidates must fill all the details in the application form cautiously. Soon after the commencement of the TANCET registration, Anna University facilitates a window to rectify errors in the documents uploaded. Anna University frequently releases the application status PDF during the registration window is live. This PDF comprises the list of applicants whose forms are being kept on hold due to errors in the uploaded documents. Such candidates need to login using the credentials to upload the images with correct specifications.
