Conducting Body: CAT is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (Iims) on a rotational basis, while CMAT is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Exam Pattern: CAT has a time duration of 3 hours and is divided into three sections - Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). CMAT has a time duration of 3 hours and is divided into four sections - Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and General Awareness. Exam Difficulty: CAT is generally considered more difficult than CMAT, with a greater focus on critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. CMAT is more focused on testing basic aptitude and knowledge. Acceptance by B-Schools: While both CAT and CMAT scores are accepted by a large number of B-Schools in India, CAT scores are generally given more weightage by top-ranked B-Schools due to its greater reputation and the larger number of applicants. In summary, while both CAT and CMAT are entrance exams for MBA programs, they differ in terms of conducting body, exam pattern, difficulty level and acceptance by B-Schools. However, both exams are widely accepted by various B-Schools in India and can provide good opportunities for admission to MBA programs.
