IIM Ranchi - Indian Institute of Management Answered Questions

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria of full-time PhD course must participate in the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs. Alternatively, those who have cleared GATE, GRE, GMAT, or NET-JRF (UGC/CSIR) exams can also apply in their relevant specialisation area. Scores from any of these exams, including CAT, taken within the last two years, will be considered valid for Ph.D. admission.Candidates who have completed a one/two-year full-time classroom-based Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or specialized management area (e.g., PGD in HRM, Agri-Business Management, etc.) from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or its equivalent in the four years preceding Jun 30, 2023, are exempted from this requirement. They can apply directly using the prescribed Application Form.Candidates shortlisted based on their academic records and performance in the aforementioned competitive examinations will be invited for a seminar and personal interview for final selection in April/May 2023. Successful candidates will receive admission offers by the end of May 2023.

Aspirants can join the IIM Ranchi IPM course after class 12. It is full time 5-year integrated course comprising Undergraduate and postgraduate management programmes (BBA-MBA). At the completion of IPM students will be awarded an MBA degree. For admission at IIM Ranchi in IPM, candidates are required to appear for the IPMAT examination followed by PI round which will be conducted virtually by IIM Ranchi.The total fees for the first three years of the programme will be around INR 16 lakh.The fees for the next two years will be equal to the MBA programme fees set for that year. The programme is designed to provide a multidisciplinary foundation borrowing from Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts, and Sciences. The programme’s cross-disciplinary business core builds on such a foundation. It comprehensively covers management, marketing, accounting, finance, economics, information systems, data science, and strategic management.

Candidates are required to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) to gain admission to the flagship programme, MBA in General Management, at IIM Ranchi. The CAT also serves as the entrance exam for the MBA-HR and MBA in Business Analytics programmes offered by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi. To proceed with the admission process, candidates must meet the sectional cutoff and overall cutoff. Once they achieve the necessary CAT percentile, the shortlisted candidates will be notified of the specific dates for their Personal Interviews.For admission to the Executive MBA programme of IIM Ranchi, candidates have to go through the Personal Interview (PI) process only, the candidate must have at least 5 years of full-time work experience to be eligible for this programme.

Candidates need to appear for IPMAT to get admission to the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) of IIM Ranchi. The selection for the Integrated IPM at IIM Ranchi will rely on the Aptitude Test [IPMAT-Indore], Personal Interview (PI), and the academic background of candidates. The interview process of IIM Ranchi is held under CAP (common admission process). Candidates who qualify for CAT are further invited to the personal interview round. The PI is conducted virtually and exact dates and information for the same is communicated to the shortlisted candidates in due course. The personal interview round is conducted to assess the candidate's leadership skills, subject knowledge, problem-solving skills and communication abilities. 

Admission to IIM Ranchi in 2023 is a two-step procedure. Candidates with a valid CAT are shortlisted for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) in the first phase. Candidates who score higher than the minimal cutoffs in the sectional percentile rankings, the overall percentile rank, and have a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of the CAT will be considered for the next step. IIM Ranchi offers Doctoral Programmes in Management in full-time and Executive mode. Moreover, when we compare with the NIRF ranking 2023 in Management category, IIM Rohtak has been ranked 12 and IIM Raipur has been ranked 11. Both the colleges have good facilities and infrastructure.
