Currently, the training and placement programme at IIT Bhilai consists of the summer (May to July) and winter (December) internship programs, which last approximately 4-6 weeks, respectively.  The previous year 2024 saw over 80 students receiving internships from top companies. The placement cell at IIT Bhilai also known as Center for Career Planning and Services (CCPS) organises a training and placement programme every year. The programme includes campus placements for internships and graduate placements. The Summer Internship programme usually commences from May-July, while the winter internships usually start in December. Meanwhile, the graduates placement drive starts from September annually. Various training sessions are organised for students to gain industrial exposure through interaction with trained experts. 

IIT Bhilai is considered a competitive institution, but generally less so than the older, more established IITs, making it a relatively good option for those who aim for a good Engineering education but may not have the highest JEE Advanced rank. The cutoff ranks for IIT Bhilai have varied over the years, but generally, the closing ranks for the general category in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) have been around the 5,000-6,000 range. Therefore, once an applicant fulfills IIT Bhilai admission requirements i.e., competitive grades, standardised test scores, technical language requirements as well as relevant documents, they are most likely to secure an admission in the institute. However, students must not take this lightly and apply to the institute within the deadlines in order to get enrolled as a student.
