Disappointing in many ways. The only good thing is the friends you make in the process.
Placements: I'm currently in the final year, and of course, around 80–85% of our batchmates have been given internships. But, when it comes to jobs, so far only about 30–35% of the batch has been placed. The average package for freshers right now is approximately Rs. 15,000–20,000 per month. JW Marriott and Hyatt are the top recruiting hotel brands. Mostly freshers join as associates.
Infrastructure: I’m visibly upset with the infrastructure, especially with the amount of fee they’re charging. The AC in classrooms is often broken, there are very few classrooms, and there’s no Wi-Fi facility. The library hardly has 100 books. Labs are okay but not top-notch. There is no canteen for students, no mess or hostel, and no playground or anything.
Faculty: Faculty members are decent. Some of them try their best to pass on knowledge. We give exams under MAKAUT University, but that change to SSU from the next batch. Exams aren’t hard, but they always publish exam routines just a few days before the semester which is very problematic.
Other: I chose this journey because I am passionate about the hotel and hospitality life. But, after the course, I feel like I am not meant for this. Although events and fests are superb, there are lots of artistic practices.

Best college in Kolkata for hotel management.
Placements: Here, 100% placement is given by the college, from many more opportunities like respective 5-stars and also from outside India placements. There are many opportunities to grow your career and life to a 100% hike, and exciting ones like cruises and deluxe properties.
Infrastructure: All classrooms are provided with air conditioning, and all labs are cleaned. All departments have comfort for each and every student. There is a very comfy and good environment in this college, and very cool faculty members and styling to teach all departments.
Faculty: If you are looking for good knowledge and placement about the hotel industry, this college is the best choice. This college makes each and every one industry-ready! And provides the best course and knowledge, and there are good faculty members and many more.
Other: Every year, a fest is organized for freshers newcomers, and the annual program. There is a food festival, puja festival, Holi fest, and vacations like Goa, Hyderabad, and Thailand.

Review of Indian Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata.
Placements: Almost 100% of students got placed in this course. The highest salary package offered was 5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 2.50 LPA. Top recruiting companies are ITC, Taj Group, Hyatt, and Mariott. Around 50% of students got internships in this course. Top roles offered are culinary chef, food and beverage service staff member, bakery chef, housekeeping staff, front-office staff, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college does not provide hostel and mess facilities. The food quality is average. Medical facilities are available. A first-aid box is also available in this college.

Our college has helpful teachers.
Placements: You get a few options like front-office, F&B service, housekeeping, production, and bakery. You can choose your interest and can give importance to that particular department. You have various stages in each department. The highest earning is in F&B service.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure has changed a lot. There are 2 buildings on our campus now. We don't have Wi-Fi service. There is a library, but you must pay for it. We cannot use the library as it is too small. It is used for back-office purposes. There is a hostel too. Canteen is not available. Students cannot leave the college premises.
Faculty: Teachers are very kind and helpful. They always lend a helping hand and never let you feel left out. They know how to make the college's hectic environment funny. The college makes you ready to face the training period, which is never going to be easy. They also make you familiar with vocals too.
Other: If you are ready to work for more than 12 hours, you can work in the hotel industry. It's very difficult and not everyone can do it. The college is fun. Events keep happening to make you feel fresh and create a happy mood.

Infrastructure: We are provided with all the facilities like labs, fully air-conditioned classrooms, computer labs, and a library. Medical kit for labs is provided. Hostels are average and clean. Wi-Fi facilities, medical facilities, and extracurricular activities are provided.
Faculty: Faculty members are helpful and supportive. The course makes students industry-ready by preparing to appear for internship interviews. Semester exams are bit tough. So students have to study well. The pass percentage is 50%.
Other: I chose this course because I want to serve in the hospital sector. The best thing about this course is it's easy to get a job that everyone wants nowadays. Fest and all takes place accompanied by extracurricular activities.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for admission to MHA at IIHM Kolkata?
A:

The following qualifications are required for admission to IIHM Kolkata's Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) programme:

English must have been a required subject in the candidate's 10+2 coursework.
A minimum of 50% in marks must have been obtained by the candidate.
When the candidate applies on July 1st of the academic year, the highest age restriction should be 22 years old.
The E-Chat Entrance Exam is the basis for selection.

Q:   What is the selection process for BHM and what is the minimum WBCHSE score required?
A:

The selection process for the BHM programme at IIHM Kolkata typically involves multiple stages:

1. Application:

  • Submit an online or offline application form along with the required documents and application fee.
  • Meet the minimum eligibility criteria (usually 50% aggregate marks in Class 12th or equivalent).

2. IIHM Aptitude Test (IIHM-AT):

  • Take the IIHM-AT, a written entrance exam, designed to assess your aptitude for the hospitality industry. It covers topics like General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and General Awareness.
  • Achieving a good score in the IIHM-AT significantly strengthens your application.

3. Personal Interview:

  • Shortlisted candidates may be called for a personal interview to assess your communication skills, motivation, and personality fit for the hospitality industry.
  • Prepare well for the interview by researching IIHM and demonstrating your passion for the hospitality sector.

4. Final Selection:

  • The admissions committee considers your Class 12th marks, IIHM-AT score, interview performance, and any other relevant factors to make the final selection decision.
  • Successful candidates receive an offer letter and can proceed with programme registration and fee payment.

Minimum WBCHSE Score:

While IIHM mentions a minimum eligibility criterion of 50% aggregate marks in Class 12th or equivalent, the actual cut-off scores for WBCHSE can vary depending on several factors:

  • Competition: The number of applicants and overall quality of applications during a specific intake semester can influence the cut-off scores.
  • Program Specialization: Specific BHA specializations within the programme might have slightly higher cut-off scores due to their popularity or focus areas.
  • Intake Semester: Cut-off scores might differ between the January and August intake semesters.

Therefore, focusing solely on the minimum WBCHSE score isn't enough to guarantee admission.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for MBA at IIHM Kolkata?
A:

The eligibility criteria for MBA at IIHM Kolkata is

  • possess a bachelor's degree with at least 50% of the possible points from an accredited college in any field.
  • possess completed class 12 or a comparable test with at least 50% of the possible points from an accredited board

Q:   Can I join IIHM Kolkata directly?
A:

Whether you can join IIHM Kolkata directly depends on what you mean by "directly." Here are the two main possibilities:

1. Direct Admission without entrance exam:

Unfortunately, direct admission without taking the IIHM Aptitude Test (IIHM-AT) is not typically possible for the Bachelor of Hotel Administration (BHA) programme at IIHM Kolkata. The IIHM-AT score plays a significant role in the selection process, alongside your WBCHSE marks and any additional assessments.

However, there might be limited exceptions in specific situations, such as:

  • International students: International applicants might be considered for direct admission based on their academic qualifications and standardized test scores (e.g.,  SAT,  ACT) in some cases.
  • Transfer students: Students transferring from other accredited hospitality programs with excellent academic records might be eligible for direct admission after a thorough evaluation.
  • Exceptional achievements: If you have demonstrably exceptional achievements in relevant fields like sports,  music,  or entrepreneurship,  IIHM might consider offering direct admission after reviewing your portfolio and potential contribution to the institute.

It's crucial to remember that these exceptions are rare and subject to IIHM's discretion. The most guaranteed path to joining the BHA programme at IIHM Kolkata is to apply through the regular process, which involves meeting the eligibility criteria, taking the IIHM-AT, and following the standard selection procedure.

2. Joining a shorter course or Diploma program:

If you're looking for a quicker way to enter the hospitality industry, IIHM Kolkata offers various shorter courses and Diploma programs in specialised areas like food production, bakery & confectionery, hotel operations, and event management. These programs might involve direct admission based on your academic qualifications and an interview or written test.

Therefore, your ability to join IIHM Kolkata directly depends on your specific situation and the programme you're interested in. I recommend contacting the IIHM Kolkata admissions office directly to explore your options and obtain accurate information about eligibility and application procedures for both the BHA programme and any shorter courses that might interest you.
