KSOU offers a BSc in Information Technology is the ODL mode. Admission is provided to candidates who are eligible as per the following eligibility criteria:
- II PUC Science from Karnataka State Pre University Board with Mathematics/Statistics/Accountancy as one of the subjects, OR,
- Class 12/PUC in the stream of Science from any other recognised board, OR,
- Three-year Polytechnic/Diploma (CS/IT/EC/EE/IS)/Diploma with Mathematics as one of the core subjects or equivalent
Submitting the documents proving the eligibility of applicants is an important step in the KSOU application process. The following documents shall be submitted by the applicants seeking admission to the BSc programme:
- Photocopy of SSLC/Class 12 mark sheet
- Photocopy of mark sheet of PUC or its equivalent
- SC/ST caste certificate (if applicable)
- BPL card (in case of women candidates)
- Income certificate (if applicable)
- Aadhaar Card
- Two stamp size and two passport size photos should be submitted at the time of verification
Yes, KSOU offers dual-degree programmes where candidates can pursue two ODL courses simultaneously. Candidates can even pursue one regular degree along with an ODL course of KSOU. However, this does not apply to the PhD programmes. The dual-degree programme was approved by UGC in 2022 and KSOU was the first university in the state to adopt it.
No, there is no entrance exam required for BCom admission at KSOU. Candidates seeking admission to the ODL programme must submit an online application form. Before applying, they must ensure that they are eligible for admission as per the eligibility criteria specified by the university. After filling out the application form and submitting the required documents on the KSOU Online Admission Portal, candidates must submit a processing fee. Eligible candidates are provided direct admission to BCom at KSOU, after an online document verification. Such candidates must confirm their admission by submitting the course fee and report at their chosen Regional Center for original document verification.
Candidates belonging to any one of the following three categories are exempt from paying fees at KSOU:
- Transgenders
- Blind Candidates (Except for MBA & B.Ed)
- Children from families deceased in Covid-19
To avail of the fee exemption, candidates must submit suitable documents supporting their eligibility. Addionally, SC/ST/OBC candidates are eligible for fee reimbursement from the Social Welfare Department. Applications for fee reimbursement can be submitted on the State Scholarship Portal.
To be eligible to pursue BCom at KSOU, applicants must meet any one of the following eligibility criteria specified by the university:
Candidates must have passed the Two-Year Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Board in Karnataka State, or any other examination considered equivalent thereto
- Candidates from other states must have completed 12 years of schooling excluding nursery education
- Candidates must have completed Pre-University Education in Vocational Courses with relevant subjects conducted by the Department of Vocational Education, Government of Karnataka

They didn't publish the cutoff like other colleges. According to some reports students who have successfully completed the 12th standard in any stream can pursue BBA and he/she must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in their board examination.
