Yes, SJCE is one of the best colleges for engineering in Mysore. It is also one of the oldest engineering colleges in Karnataka, and it is a constituent college of JSS Science and Technology University, under the JSS Mahavidyapeetha umbrella. The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in Mysore admits students to its undergraduate engineering programs via three separate entrance exams: JEE Main (UG), COMEDK, and CET. The minimal score required for admission varies according to the exam taken. Direct entrance to NIE is available, through management quota .

Candidates seeking admission in JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research must fulfil the eligibility and selection requirements. The selection criteria varies course-wise.
