Satisfied in terms of faculty and infrastructure. Placements are not up to the mark.
Placements: As a media college, focusing on media and advertising studies, placements were below average. The college had a placement cell that helped students to get internships in small media houses and publication houses such as TV100, and a few regional broadcasting channels. For placements, we had to struggle on our own but we did get appropriate support from the placement cell. The average CTC was Rs 2 LPA only. Most of the students got into copy editing profiles in various organisations, including publication houses, magazines, and media houses.
Infrastructure: The college really shines at its infrastructure and has all the required facilities such as Croma rooms, cameras, lenses, editing lab (I-Mac), Radio-Jockey set-up, etc. And students are allowed after the college hours to visit and practise if they wish to. The whole college premises is air-conditioned as well as Wi-Fi-enabled. Massco Media had a massive Croma room as compared to other colleges in the city. The classrooms are well-equipped with projectors and there is an orientation room as well, which was used for multiple purposes, including a class-wise activity. There are two canteens that served decent food with several options. There were no medical and sports facilities provided by the college. The college does not own a hostel but the admin does help the students to look for other PG options that are available nearby.
Faculty: The teachers were really great as they were highly qualified as well as experienced. They used to help us outside our college hours. Most of the faculty members had come from their respective industries and as a result of which, they were able to teach in a better way, giving us a picture of both theoretical as well as practical approaches. Their teaching quality was accurate. The course curriculum was relevant to the industries and we were taken to various events, including talk shows, interviews, debates, etc. , to provide exposure in terms of how the media industry works. The semester exams were average.
Other: I chose this course as I was really interested in media and advertising studies. Also, I wanted to pursue acting and hence, chose this course as a stepping stone. One of the key achievements of our college is that a few scenes of Vicky Donor were shot in our college. Placements definitely need an improvement here. There was no fest conducted in the college during my tenure, however, students can participate in other events happening around the city and the admin would help them get in. There was no scholarship policy in written but you can negotiate the tuition fee at the time of admission if you score good marks in the entrance exam. Also, students who have secured more than 90 percent marks in their class 12 can ask for a 15 percent fee waiver which is applicable to the tuition fee.
How is the placement facility at Massco Media?
