The National Institute of Design will conduct the DAT Mains exam separately for the B. Des and M.Des programs.The DAT Mains exam for the B. Des programme was conducted in April 202 (tentative). Meanwhile, DAT Mains for the M.Des programme was held from March onward.The DAT Mains exam for the B. Des programme comprises a Studio Test that will be conducted in a center-based mode. Meanwhile, the DAT Mains for the M.Des programme comprises a Studio Test and Interview.The final results of NID DAT 2025 were declared by considering the performance of the candidate in the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.Final results for the B.Des programme was announced in May 2025, while for the M.Des program, final results was announced in Arpil 2025.

The admission to the NIDs is conducted through a Design Aptitude Test (DAT). The DAT is a two-stage exam.The candidate has to first appear in DAT Prelims and then, if shortlisted, have to appear in DAT Mains. The final merit list for admission will be prepared by giving weightage to both DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. If a candidate appear in DAT Prelims, but doesn't appear in DAT Mains, he or she will not be considered for admission. 

Candidates may note that the National Institute of Design (NID) doesn’t release any syllabus for either DAT Prelims or DAT Mains.However, the institute has released the sample test papers for the NID DAT 2024 exam. The sample papers contain the questions similar to the ones that will be asked in the actual exam. So, the candidate may download and practice the sample papers to get an idea about the difficulty level, types of questions asked, marking scheme, weightage, and topics covered.Additional, the candidate may download the section-wise topics for the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains exam that have been prepared by consulting previous years’ question papers.

The DAT Prelims result covered the following items:Whether all answers have been markedWhether there has been any mistakes in totalling the marks in Part II and transferring the marks to the 1st cover page of the answer booklet.This means, the recheck didn't check whether the your answer is correct or incorrect. Further, the answer booklets were not made available.

The candidate mustn't under any circumstances wait for the dying hours to download the admit card for NID DAT 2026. It is because in the last few hours, there may a server crash or website slowdown issues due to heavy traffic.If that happens, you may face difficulty in downloading the admit card.Also, if there is any discrepancy in the admit card, you won't have much time to get it fixed if you don't download it soon after it is released.

The National Institute of Design (NID)  released admit cards for DAT Prelims on December 11, 2025. Meanwhile, the DAT Prelims exam was conducted on December 21, 2025.Admit cards for the DAT Mains will be released later.The candidate must carefully preserve the admit cards for the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. It is because the admit cards will be required at the time of seat allotment and admission.Also, note that the window to download the admit card will only be open for a limited period of time.

In fact, NID doesn’t release any syllabus either for the DAT Prelims or DAT Mains exam.Instead, the institute released sample question papers for the B.Des and M.Des programs.The candidate can solve questions given in the sample papers to get an idea about the types of questions asked, topics covered, and weightage. Previous years’ NID DAT question papers can also be used for the purpose.
