The multiple benefits of solving sample papers to prepare for the NID DAT entrance exam. A few of them are illustrated below. Non-Availability for Counselling: If the candidate fails to appear for the counselling session or fails to produce the required documents at the time of counselling, the candidature may be cancelled. Invalid Qualifications: If the candidate fails to meet the eligibility criteria specified by NID, or if the candidate's qualifications are found to be invalid or forged, the candidature may be cancelled. Violation of Rules: If the candidate is found to have violated any of the rules or regulations of the institute, the candidature may be cancelled. NID officials will consider the Merit list of that Prelims to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains. The number of candidates shortlisted will be no less than three times in each category. The National Institute of Design will prepare merit lists for GENERAL, GENERAL-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD & OVERSEAS categories. In the scenario where two or more candidates score the same marks in the DAT Prelims, then a tiebreak policy will be applied to decide the merit rank.

Questions in NID DAT are drafted by an exam committee formulated by the National Institute of Design. The NID DAT exam is considering one of the toughest in the land, along with other popular entrance exams like NIFT and UCEED. On particular reason why NID DAT is so competitive is there are only 425 seats available for the B. Des programme, while candidates from all over the country can apply. The NID DAT exam comprises two stages. The candidate first appears in DAT Mains, which is a Design Aptitude Test. Those who qualify in that Prelims have to next appear in the that Mains. Note that the final results will be prepared by giving weightage to both that Prelims and that Mains.

It may be noted that the National Institute of Design (NID) will not release any answer keys for the NID DAT exam. The institute has mentioned in the Admission Handbooks the answer keys for the that exams will not be shared with the candidate even upon request. This is because the question booklets are highly subjective in nature, as per NID officials. The candidate may however download unofficial answer keys of NID that released by coaching institutes. But note that answers given in the unofficial keys may be incorrect. Nevertheless, the unofficial keys will give the candidate a fair idea about the expected score.

The application form for NID DAT 2025 has to be filled online. There is no way to fill the form in any other way. The application link is provided on the official admission portal of NIFT; alternately, the candidate could visit this page to fill the application form. The application fee for NID that will also have to be paid online using online payment gateway. Note that the National Institute of Design (NID) will invite NID that applications for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses. Currently, there are 425 seats for the B. Des programme, while the M.Des programme has an intake of 347 seats.

The candidate needs to be born on or after July 1, 2004 for admission to the B. Des programme through NID DAT 2025 entrance exam. Note that relaxation of 3-years applies to candidates from following categories - Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST). Meanwhile, for candidates belong to the PwD category, the relaxation in the upper age limit is 5 years. The candidate before filling out the NID application form need to ensure that they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Note that if the candidate is found to be faking their age, he or she may be disqualified.

Seats will be reserved for various categories at the NIDs as per the norms of the Government of India. For instance, the seats available for the BDes and MDes programmes are classified into different categories like Open, Gen-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, etc. The candidate will have to select their admission category at the time of filling out the NID DAT 2024 application form. Of the total seat intake, 10% of seats will be reserved for Gen-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, and 7.5% for the ST category. However, note that Foreign nationals applying under the Overseas category are outside the ambit of reservation of seats for the GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories.

The National Institutes of Design (NIDs) currently offer the BDes and MDes courses. Admission to these courses will be based on the merit rank of the candidate in the NID DAT exam, which will be prepared by considering the performance of the candidate in DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. The weightage carried by the two exams is notified by the National Institute of Design at the time of declaration of final results. Note that in NID DAT 2025, the DAT Prelims will carry 40% weightage, while DAT Mains will carry 60% weightage.The candidate has to first appear in DAT Prelims, and if shortlisted has to next appear in DAT Mains. The DAT Mains exam for the BDes comprises a Studio Test, but also an interview for the MDes programme.
