The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, also known as NIELIT Ajmer is funded by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India (GOI). This institute offers courses across Electronics, Computer Science and Information Technology and related disciplines. The campus features state-of-the-art infrastructure and is well-equipped to provide long / short-term courses, e-learning modules and consultancy services to students. The institute offers multiple certificate and UG Diploma courses with a reasonable fee structure with monthly or hourly durations, depending on the course. The fee structure for the Certificate courses at NIELIT Ajmer starts from Rs. 125 for Appreciation of Digital Literacy (Level 1) course up till Rs. 33,000 for NIELIT A Level (Part Time).On the other hand, the fee structure at NIELIT Chennai begins at Rs. 700 for a certificate course called Online Summer Internship on IoT using Arduino and ESP8266 and goes as high as Rs. 35,594 for a PG Diploma course called Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics (NSQF Level - 8). The higher fee structure lies on the NIELIT Chennai’s part which makes NIELIT Chennai slightly more expensive than NIELIT Ajmer.

Both NIELIT are affiliated with the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology. While NIELIET Chennai offers 7 courses in 2 streams, NIELET Ajmer offers 19 courses across 2 streams. NIELET Ajmer offers courses across Electronics, Computer Science and Information Technology and related disciplines while NIELIT Chennai courses are offered in Information Electronics and Communication Technology (IECT) viz. VLSI Design, Embedded System, Networking, Information Security, and IT Applications. The infrastructural facilities of both the colleges include lab and library.  Admission to long-term courses to both the courses is conducted through NIELIT entrance exam. So, the choice from either of the colleges can depend on the choices and preferences of the students.
